They've picked the wrong one.
Theresa May doesn't have the air of a convincing statesman/woman.
Leadsom does.
What's happened here is that the MPs generally support May and the grass roots Conservative Party members generally support Leadsom.
As the final vote is decided by the grass roots, not the MPs, Leadsom had a real chance here, probably the favourite; so as she's stood down I'd say the MPs have something on her and have threatened to ruin her career unless she stands aside. They'll have offered her a decent place in the government in return for her giving up on the leadership challenge.
Apparently she got caught out being indiscreet and so ruined her chances. Our of the 5 Teresa May was the most able and come Thursday she will be leader of the greedy and Selfish upper crust, we' have a divine right to rule tory party and also be Prime Minister. She is a tough old girl who put the belligerent police in their place and introduced direct entry at Inspector and Superintendent ranks legal. Just like Thatcher expect lots of unemployed working class and lower middle class people and a further dismantling of what is left of British Industry. The Labour party is imploding but they have not been the party of the working people since the 1926 general strike when they were first in power and betrayed the working people. The Liberals are no longer a politically important party and the Scots nationalists who want to leave the union are the new third party. Divisive politics, rival infighting, back stables, free living parasites,a nation that will not have any effective government to negotiate new trade deals with China and it's former 50 plus nation empire and potential 3 billion people trade market. Austerity and no pay rises and longer hours fir the poor and loads more money for the British elite, Lazy toff classes. Just like Thatcher she will do the exact opposite of what she claimed and she will further divide the nation. Since thatchers era the UK has been in rapid decline and its politicians have lined their own pockets and their business friends also. Money stolen from the exchequer to give to fraudulent contractors who do a useless job and negating the defence of the realm which is the government's first duty. Reducing the armed forces to a level not seen since the 1680s and now they have 6 times the population. No doubt Wales will seek independence next. Even the Billy boy Ulster Scots now want shut of the union. Albion shall rise again and Romano Britannia shall fall.
