I'm just puzzled that somebody thinks "Amazing Grace" played on the bagpipes is somehow better than a whiney Canadian castrato: I try to avoid hearing either, meself.

My ancestry is Apache, Cherokee, Scot, Irish, Welsh, Frank, German. I cant stand polka music, but bagpipes speak to the soul.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: Canada has gone too far! (7/14/2016 1:54:27 PM)

Ooooer jlf!!

Dunno where your soul is, but to me (with the very very odd exception), bagpipes sound like (and look like) they are huffing up the ass of a squeaky wild cat that's screaming to get away from the player!!
Oooh.... ouch! That nauseating drone too.
They are a pain to my eardrums.

As soon as I can find a way to get a B52 with a full conventional bomb load, I am going to be paying a visit to the location of the Pandora facility that houses its staff that come up with a computer program that puts Justin Bieber's music on a station that is mainly Celt folk music.

Since the 2 dozen emails have failed to get them to realize that there is no conceivable connection between Justin Bieber and bagpipes, it is time to escalate the message.

Does anyone know what it does to the mental state of an individual to be listening to the wonderful sounds of "amazing grace" played on bagpipes and suddenly be subjected to that whiney self absorbed Canadian singing?

I have been subjected to this individual not only on the Celt station but he has also shown up mixed in with 80's metal, Delta Blues, and the classical play list.

Musical Genome project my ass, this is part of the Canadian governments attempt to torture the bulk of humanity with an exported talent that, while gifted, is not the final word in music. It rates up there with the UK exporting Cricket.

While I am at it:

Canadian bacon is not bacon, its ham, and not properly cured ham at that.

Canadian cities should not be allowed to own American baseball teams, they are not a part of the United States and therefore should have their own baseball league, it is called, after all, the National League, not the international league.

Well!!!!

You know, that not liking bagpipes and traditional scot/irish music will condemn you to spend eternity in Warrington dealing with those lunatics?

That's no excuse. There's plenty of Scots and Irish folk music that doesn't involve bagpipes, and it generally sounds an awful lot better. What's wrong with tin whistles or a six holed flute if you want folk music with wind instruments on it?

If its against TOS, why is it even a function?

It doesn't make much sense to me to make a function available but then say that you aren't supposed to do it.

I'm going to Canada for the first time in September so will report back my findings.

Only one or two things I can say is that American bacon and cheese are absolutely disgusting and really shouldn't lay any claim to being bacon and cheese.

It really couldn't be any worse in Canada!

On the plus side you have that stuff Jambalaya - now that is food! I could eat that every day for a year and never get bored.

Hopefully the Canadians will have something similar.

That's like saying "There's no feature that stops me from posting child porn, so why would it be against the law to do it?"

There are many features that should only be used for certain reasons.

Like the Edit feature should only be used to fix spelling mistakes, not to totally alter your post so it makes no sense.

(Because.....well....that would be a lie).

You notice how they sell gas up there?

NOT a gallon!

(I hasten to add.....WTF would they call "American Cheese" up there....and for that matter.....would it be??????).

And that whole thing about 10ths????

WTF is that?

How the HELL do you convert that in to inches???? Who was smoking dope THAT day????

At least HERE....we have 335 million people speaking SOME fucking form of English.....I'll grant you....whether they're from Louisiana, Miami or the Bronx....you can't understand one fucking one of them but AT LEAST it's ENGLISH!!!!

And THEN.....there's that whole VAT thing....a single sales tax across the entire country....now SERIOUSLY people.....with ONE rule....how the HELL do you expect good, thieving politicians to derive any kind of graft from that? I mean....WTF....over?

Thank gawd for the American system.

The function to change the title of the thread is independent of anything else. It can be removed and it would not affect any other current capability of the site.

To stop people from posting child porn, they would have to disable the function to post anything, period. Which would cripple the site.

But the function to change thread titles is isolated to just that one function. The only reason that box is open for editing is to specifically change thread titles. That's it.

Removing the capability to edit that one box does not have a single affect anywhere else on the site. It is not tied to anything else whatsoever.

So why have it if it is against ToS?

Probably because this forum software is so old and pathetic that removing that particular feature for users is not possible. Delicate Souls will just have to deal with it.

I dunno im still stuck on on the fact they dont like bagpipes, i for one am Scottish, Irish, German and Whelch decendant and love all forms of the respected music from the cultures listed above, the skill alone to play the instruments is noteworthy to their own rights, know this from expierence, i play a 1/4 fiddle and a 2/3rds violin or a 4 sring fiddle and a 5 string violin, im a fan of Riverdance and their folklore... Ah hell i don't know where the hell i'm going with this post so I'll stop now

So, seriously, people from the country that has the cheek to call swill like Budweiser and Coors lager are complaining about their northern neighbours mislabelling stuff that isn't really proper bacon?
Pot, meet kettle. He lives just a bit to your north...

For one thing, Budweiser and Coors are little better than horse piss, but then I do not like beer.

I prefer whiskey, that nice amber liquid that provides warmth on cold days, and a handy glass bottle (okay not anymore) to crack over the skull of some idiot referring to that round meat from up north as bacon.
