I am having trouble finding published articles on it yet, so no cites, but in watching various news stations I am seeing lots of reports about how his campaign staff had to outmaneuver Trump to get Pence chosen. Basically they decided it was going to be Pence, so they leaked it to the media and anyone else who would listen, and flew Pence into NYC in preparation for the announcement. Supposedly Pence was in his hotel room in NYC, having already accepted the invitation to run on the ticket, when he watched a live Fox interview where Trump was asked about Pence being VP pick and Trump responded saying that it was still up in the air, don't count on that, etc. Can't wait to see what comes up when this catches on, because Pence has publicly disagreed with Trump and another politician tweeted about how he had had a discussion with Pence about how horrible Trump was. But yeah, Pence is disturbing as well.

While I think that Gingrich would have been able to do a good job, and would have been an upgrade if something to happened to Trump, he is pre-demonized. Remember Time Magazines the Gingrich who stole Christmas because he fought to balence the budget? They were following Clintons line (at the time) that balancing the budgetwould destroy the nation. Of course once they balenced it Clinton took credit for it and so that is how the Koolaid drinkers and sheep remember it.
