I was looking at this thinking, "maybe I over did it?" I know the rule of thumb is that you can never have too much rope, but seriously... how much rope is enough? 600 ft enough? Able to tie up 25 people enough? What about 10 people? Where do you draw the line and stop buying all that pretty rope when you see it? ... and what the status quo, linear feet or how many people you can put into bondage? I have enough rope to tie up a lot of people. Either I gotta' get some more slaves or make a whole bunch of new friends that are rope bondage enthusiasts. Wears only sandals and has yet to master the shoelace. One can never have too many muffins. So by applying the same logic then you can simply knot have enough rope. I bet you have your most favourite piece/length of rope - which one is it and why?

Oh I have the occasional evening when I am watching TV with the slave and we spend a lot of time lacing her up with a ton of pretty rope, but normally I am more of a form follows function type of dude. I want to put enough rope on to secure someone that is resisting in less than a couple minutes. So for me, 12 ft pieces are a really good working length. I fold it in half, make a cheater slip knot and use it doubled. ... but, my cross has eye bolts in it. So I can quickly lace someone tightly to it with a couple 50 footers. I have rope in the nightstand, in my packed dungeon gear bag (steamer trunk actually) and non BDSM intended rope in our disaster preparedness kits. So I was looking at that picture and thinking it seems like a lot of rope. Yet, at the next leather convention, if I come across some pretty rope or some rope that is just right for pulling the core out to make for nice comfy long term bondage (I don't have any), I will buy even more rope. I should have titled this thread "You might be a rope junkie if..." I guess I'm a rope junkie. Are you?

I think rope is interesting and I get the attraction- but not being big on Shibari we have literally zero rope right now. I prefer cuffs and chains- he prefers cuffs. We have like...a dozen pairs or so- hidden about the house. No chain right now either :( I am working on persuading him. He is all about function and cuffs are the fastest and most efficient in his mind. idk- I've only really experienced rope as Shibari- Which I find dreadfully boring. So I think it's interesting that you have so much not for Shibari purposes! I think more slaves would serve that rope well in any case.

I even have a nice steel thumb cuff. That is the thing about shibari... it's a bit slow and too dragged out for me. That's why it makes for a nice TV watching activity. You get to watch a movie while you do it. [:)]

It’s a touch of OCD RS. Collecting all that rope I mean. [:D] At one time I couldn’t say no to a pretty flogger. I was like a magpie every time I went to a fet market. I even put my shoe fetish on hold because I was so tempted by shiny expensive floggers. After moving on to the boat and not having much cupboard space for my shoes, I decided that most of those floggers had to go. I kept my six favorites and I’m pleased to report, I’ve never regretted parting with the others. I’ll send you my postal address so you can offload some of that rope [;)]

Dear Maria ^, I understand your passion for whips and floggers. I was fortunate to have some floggers custom made that were sized and balanced perfectly for me. They were the last floggers I ever purchased. Perhaps one day I will find the perfect rope . . . just the right diameter, the perfect amount core so it is a little cushy without being stretchy and of course, the perfect color. Until then, perhaps it is OCD (obsessive collecting disorder) that drives me to keep adding to the collection?
