Police in the German city of Munich say the perpetrators of a shooting attack are still on the run, and they advise people to avoid public places.

There are reports of at least six people killed, but police have not confirmed that figure.

A big security operation is under way at the Olympia shopping centre in the north-western Moosach district.

Shop workers have been unable to leave the building. There is no information about a possible motive for the attack.

The police Facebook page quoted eyewitnesses as saying they had seen three attackers carrying guns.

Police are now describing it as "an acute terror situation".

Public transport has been suspended as the extensive security operation continues. The city's central railway station has been evacuated.

Germany has very restrictive laws against private firearm ownership that have been in place since the Hitler years. (Hitler, another champion of the anti-gun cause) Clearly we can see the ineffectiveness of of such laws there or anywhere else.

The fact that people anywhere should be disarmed in the face of such a threat I find preposterous. It's high time Germany and the rest of Europe start allowing citizens to carry their own weapons to defend themselves. It shouldn't require a tragedy to bring about something as elementary and common sense as an armed society.

It works in Switzerland, Israel and USA. Wake up Germans! Time to get rid of that last vestige of nazism!

One of the things that allowed hitler to come to power was the lack of guns in the general population. You have fallen for another one of the nra's lies.
Why would a king/kaiser allow his subjects to have guns to kill him?

(Hitler, another champion of the anti-gun cause) Clearly we can see the ineffectiveness of of such laws there or anywhere else.

How many gun deaths in germany in the past fifty or sixty years?

The fact that people anywhere should be disarmed in the face of such a threat I find preposterous.

Why do you find it preosterous?

It's high time Germany and the rest of Europe start allowing citizens to carry their own weapons to defend themselves.

What business is it of yours what europe does?

It shouldn't require a tragedy to bring about something as elementary and common sense as an armed society.

How does an armed society geneerate common sense?

It works in Switzerland,

No it does not. Google could disabuse you of your igorance.

Israel

No it does not. Google could disabuse you of your ignorance.

and USA.

No it does not. Google could disabuse you of your ignorance.

Wake up Germans! Time to get rid of that last vestige of nazism!

Wake up pappy time to get rid of your ignorance.

Munich shooting: Police say nine dead as manhunt continues

"Manhunt" for fucks sake. How hard can it be to find three men running about with guns.

German gun laws i do not know let me check some stuff....(5th anniversary of that mad Norwegian kunt running amok was it 83 or more he gotted not far from the magical 100- Now 200 was impressive)

Honduras 68/100 000 fuk me remind me never to go there…heh its a running gag but a horrific one a that…but I will visit Mexico city some day soon :) and they have pretty volcanoes - did you know Scotland had one of the first super ones glen coe is the remnants a hauntingly beautiful place, ah 7.64/100 000 seems lower than I expected be thankful America is erecting a wall to keeps itself hidden away
America – 11/100 000
Germany 1/100 000
UK 0.25/100 000

You can pretty much weaponise anything...This I know..so i am no going into this..

Where gun laws are more lax then death and carnage numbers are higher....still I know the story is young but for 3 gunmen 9 is not high in the name of their god - there god does not wish this - this staggers me to this very day

Europe its seems is relatively easily for people to run amok...but even I know targets are in this order
1. America
2. UK - and by that I mean England - just London and not eg Manchester, not Scotland (cos we hate the fuking English), Welsh, or Northern Ireland
3. Germany
4. France

And it will cometh sooneth my kingdom and the land Scotland axed 60 million years ago - none to soon if I twere to be asked

And we will declare a nation outrage (and life extinguished before its time is exactly that -no god would do that ever) then I will reflect on the bigger picture, why and wonder where they fit in today's tally with murder, disease famine, etc

Well yeah, it's because of every office guy or factory worker or waiter openly carrying around his Sturmgewehr 90 assault rifle to the train station and to work every day that keeps things tidy in Switzerland.

Wrong - the German population was disarmed by the Allies after 1945. Gun regulations were Allied law. In the western zones usually US regulations.

"Wake up ..." we had that already. No thanks. The quote reveals your mindset.

It works in Switzerland ... because militia soldiers (ie every Swiss) are NOT allowed to carry their regulation guns any other time and any other place than on military training facilities.

And here all this time, pappy and me thought that the low incidence of throwing trash on the ground and jaywalking in Switzerland was due to the fact that you would instantly have 5-10 rifles aimed at your head if you even made motions of such a thing. -Just joking (including bad grammar).

I think pappy's notion of things is that if all citizens should go about daily life under the same stark cloud of fear and terror as he does, we'd all be safer.
