I Opted for option one.

For I am an a idealist; but obviously mad in the head - but when you have 3 cats, and some ginger thieving bastard from gawd knows where, you are clearly mad….2 cats is borderline – hope eternal exists – as they say – who “they” are escapes me to this very day
Part of me wondered if there was a difference between option 1 and option 8. Yes. Yet many will not see it

What does the lifestyle mean to you and why

Kirata -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 9:29:44 AM)

Well in part it seems to mean meeting people with too much time on their hands.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 10:29:58 AM)

I couldn't take part in the poll.
My option isn't there and there's not a 'None of the above' to choose from.

blnymph -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 10:33:23 AM)

why in p&r and not in polls?

WickedsDesire -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 10:55:25 AM)

freedomdwarf1 I I could not include all variables but surely people have the gist? and wel can all take that poll

blnymph why in p&r and not in polls? - you amuse me (and one day i will look at you and decide- do not make me look hard) - there is no audience - where do you bleive this belongs nympette?

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 10:59:19 AM)

There is nothing even remotely close to describing what the lifestyle means to me, let alone the why.

So no, I couldn't enter your poll.

Didn't you know that all of us unverified-by-OP folk do not actually exist to meet or to interact with other nonexistent like-minded entities? [;)]

Consequently, why would Legend-in-His-Own-Mind give a fig muffin what this lifestyle means to anyone else? His 8 "poll" choices are only relevant to himself.

The older we get, the more we value our privacy here on our farmette. There is no need to look elsewhere for thrills, no unquenchable desire to burn the candle at both ends. We have become dreadfully boring to party-going adrenaline junkies, but we do not care about that.

OP, perhaps one day you will manage to calm the raging spirit within and heal your woundedness, in order to find peace of mind and an overflowing fullness of heart while pursuing a demonstrably attainable state of bliss. Remember the heroic Fisher King.

I offer no trick question. I have said what it means to me... I am of the mind some, far from the many, comprehend the word rainbow - I prefer EGM ( magnetic spectrum) I am no fixed…I like hat…I thought it was a good thread

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 11:24:37 AM)

But your poll is far too narrow for a lot of people.
And.... there's no 'catch-all' option like "None of the above" for people to choose from.
It is too egocentric.

Excellent point(s). Tips hat.

Awareness -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 11:31:32 AM)

Nothing. Not a damn thing.

Calling it "The Lifestyle" is another of those perpetual pieces of wankery which dominated the BDSM community to such an enormous extent. It's an attempt to differentiate yourselves from the norm so you can feel special.

Honestly, the one constant in the BDSM community is how many of its members are comprehensively full of shit and tell themselves - and others - stories to make their lives seem a lot more interesting than they actually are.

This is why I'm largely uninterested in the community as such. Because the vast majority of them are fucking pathetic.

HoneyBears -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 11:48:54 AM)

Hmmm, red-letter day? Being in general agreement with Awareness, except that we get the distinct impression he believes the 'vast majority' of the entire world's population is 'fucking pathetic.' [:D] Therefore, a moot point.

We tend to view the word "lifestyle" as an overreaching umbrella term for assorted *alternative lifestyle* choices, given there is so much Venn diagrammatic overlap in different people's orientations.

Nah. BDSM tends to attract the dysfunctional so there's a heightened representation of hysterical special snowflakes with at least one form of mental illness.

It also tends to attract predators who know that showmanship is the essence of sucking in the fresh meat and plundering their naivete. That tends to result in a lot more theatrical attention-whoring than you'll find in the general population - along with the consequent victims who use their exploitation as a means to whore for their own attention.

OsideGirl -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 2:29:37 PM)

I dislike using the term "lifestyle" to describe D/s and especially BDSM since it describes the kink portion of what we do. (I doubt anyone lives kink 24 hours a day)

But beyond that - lifestyle refers to how I live my life and while D/s is the basis of our relationship and part of who I am, it is not entirety of who I am.

One of the communities that I used to belong to started calling it WIITWD - What is is that we do - it was much more appropriate in my opinion.

So, I didn't vote either because there wasn't anything that matched my view.

Well, I only came here from interest in spanking, but then I see all these people wanting to stick candles in both ends . . .

Thirded. People generate meaning from and for things that they don't fully understand. There is no special meaning to BDSM. People that are getting 'meaning' from it are either generating it themselves to fill in the gaps of their own ignorance, or saying it to others to bait them into playing their games.

ThatDizzyChick -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/23/2016 4:00:25 PM)

Which lifestyle are you referring to?

LadyPact -> RE: What does the lifestyle mean to you and why (7/24/2016 12:23:40 AM)

Ummm.. Your poll sucks.

Sorry/Not sorry. This bullsh^t that you are trying to promote about how you are the only "genuine soul" on here or 'everyone else is fake' unless they verify themselves to you," etc, etc.

You've "verified" yourself, but by your own accounts, go nowhere and meet noone. Too busy with that "show me your tits or you're not real" crap. Exactly the type of stuff that people warn others about.

Get therapy.
