Greetings,

i'm sorry to hear that you're feeling ill, hope that you feel much better very soon!!

Ok, here's my addition to the parade of sickness...

A week ago -
me ~ ear infection and flu
both my boys ~ flu

This week -
me ~ feeling better (Thank God! Someone's gotta disinfect everything!
one son ~ tonsilitis
other son ~ Swollen gland - type of infection yet to be determined pending blood tests (forgot the name but it's often associated with the mumps. Thank God he's got all his shots or i'd be a nervous wreck waiting for the test results to come back!)

(And my house is being overran by Christmas decorations, baskets, etc!)

Merry Freaking Christmas! [:D]

sub4hire invest in some fresh ginger peel it boil it down add your favorite sweetner and drink it daily at least three times a day and it will get rid of virus buggies and strenthen your imune system some. I make it by the gallons at a time in a big pot peeling about a pound of it at a time to steam down. I am hardly never sick and if I do get sick which is far and inbetween I add a cup of cyanne pepper tea that knocks out anything in a day or two viral. If your into the vitamin thing you can take mega doses of vitamin c, b12, zinc, ginsing and iron to get rid of that tired feeling and bet a boost. I little camphor bark from the camphor tree in a pumis bag tied to the chest will help releave and pull out congestion as well. The ginger tea also gets rid of any nausiated feeling the flu brings on and helps keep you hydrated. and remember the old saying, feed a cold, starve a fever, make sure you eat a balanced diet daily so the body can work its magic even if it feels like it dont want to stay down. And folks remember wash those hands constantly and more often during flu season and cover those noses and mouths when you sneeze and cough!! JMO

I'm finally recovered from the worst stomach flu I've ever had.. Lost 15 llbs in 4 days, and feel like I turned my intestines inside out. Lasted a week- 10 days before I finally felt human again. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I have the same thing you have and it keeps hanging on and on and on...Mike

I'm now on the third week. Actually the fatigue is going away. Mostly gone. So, I do believe I'm finally on the mend. Doug is sick now with what I have.

Mostly all I have left is a sore throat and a wicked cough.

Nvernilla -> RE: The Flu (12/17/2004 10:55:12 PM)

Sore throat congestion headache fever I had em run my blood and its not the flu its a " Viral infection " whatever that means, they wouldn't say how that was different from the flu when asked. I saw a report from the WHO saying there was an avian flu they are real worried about for next year. They say it may kill people all over the globe if they don't get it stopped.

sub4hire -> RE: The Flu (12/18/2004 8:35:18 AM)

viral infection means no antibiotics for you.
However, my doctor didn't claim that. I've been on bactrin for almost a week now. I'm making remarkable progress. I can actually talk again. You can understand me. However, I'm still sick. Depending on the day, there are different symptoms still cropping up.
I think I have a lot of congestion inside of me, even though I'm not really plugged up breathing wise. My nose is not stuffy either. I know when it drips onto your throat it becomes sore. I think that is my major issue at the moment. If I stop taking the bacrtin my throat is real sore.
Forget a dose...whatever. I was told to take OTC expectorants. I really don't think they are working at all.
The avian flu, would that be next year in a little over two weeks?

gloria,

One of my snakes has a cold.

Did you ever try giving cough medicine to a 14 foot, 70 pound snake?

Jeffrey

sub4hire -> RE: The Flu (1/10/2005 12:56:33 PM)

Do you have a photo of you giving it to your snake you can share?

INSIDEYOURMIND -> RE: The Flu (1/10/2005 1:00:19 PM)

I don't, a snake's stomach is fairly far down in their anatomy, so to reach it, you must slide a tube down their throat into their stomach.

Once it is down, you must use a giant syringe, and pump the meds down their throat. All the time hoping they are not going to spit it out!

To say he doesn't like it is an understatement.

We are not dealing with little snakes here either......

It still would be quite the interesting pic, you wrestling with the snake to give it, its version of nyquil.
