Status: offline 		Tennessee School Bus Driver Pleads Guilty to Raping Student, Will Serve No Jail Time
A school bus driver in Tennessee who pleaded guilty to raping a student will serve no jail time.

Alexander Rodriquez, 34, appeared in Hamilton County Criminal Court on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to aggravated statutory rape and was sentenced to 4 years in prison. However, the sentence was suspended and Rodriquez will undergo supervised sex offender probation for 10 years and wear a GPS ankle monitor, according to WTVC.

In March 2015, a 15-year-old student at Sale Creek High School was reported missing after she was last seen getting on a bus driven by Rodriguez.

The girl told school officials Rodriguez drove the bus to a garage where the school buses are kept overnight. The girl said she then rode in his car to a motel.

Rodriguez and the girl then went into a room at the motel where she was forced to perform oral sex on him, the girl told investigators.

According to an affidavit obtained by WTVC, the girl repeatedly told Rodriguez “no” during oral sex. While she was being raped, she told Rodriguez it hurt, and Rodriguez reportedly replied, “I’m trying to make it hurt,” the girl told investigators.

Later that night, Chattanooga police called Rodriguez asking if he knew where the girl was located. A short time later, Rodriguez took the girl to another location and told her to tell police she was with a friend.

During the investigation, police asked Rodriguez about the motel. He immediately asked for an attorney.

Rodriguez was initially arrested and jailed on a $350,000 bond, which was reduced to $15,000. He spent 100 days in jail.

After the hearing on Thursday, Rodriguez’ attorney told the Times Free Press the victim had “credibility issues,” saying the victim claimed the oral sex was forced — but the evidence “didn’t really bear that out.”

“So there may have been some overall credibility issues with her,” attorney Johnny Houston told the paper.

The teen’s legal guardians filed a $10 million lawsuit earlier this year, claiming the alleged rape caused emotional trauma, lost wages, and damage to their relationship with the minor.

Another thing I would like to ask of these civilised people in other countries, do these raped Women or girls have no friends or family ? Status: offline 		well Ive been raped and I dont need a gun, never have and at the time, we had guns in the UK actually had them in my house. My dad was an avid gun man. kneecapping was popular back then. My father wanted to go hunting for the guy who beat the shit out of me, why would I want him in jail for killing someone and ruin my parents life completely? ALtho I didnt actually tell my parents I had been raped until 20 years later.

I understand that it is cheaper to offer a deal and save court cost but to offer someone like that 4 years is bullshit. And if they guy hurts someone else they should both be charged with what ever he does. Sometimes people make me sick.

Now that is fucking rich. I am not joining you in your chiding of Lucy, but that link is telling of some really stupid fucking shit going on in this country.

Now, I thought that most states had removed the statute of limitations for rape. This was in response to Catholic Priests and their victims not coming forward for 20 years because of shame or whatever reason. So now, if she files for child support, the age of that child, if the DNA test holds up, is absolute proof of statutory rape.

I would imagine that cases like that are very rare, but the fact that it CAN happen indicates the need for tweaking of the law about the matter.

Friend of mine told me he did the babysitter. I told him he got lucky. Most of the time, I wonder how anyone even finds out about shit like this. But now that it appears he might have to pay child support if she got knocked up, damn. And he is in his fifties so he'll never get caught up. He just bought a new truck, now let's see him get that notice in the mail that his license is suspended for non payment of child support he never knew he owed, or more aptly, they think he owed.

Just another thing that makes emigration look better. This place is a madhouse. And apparently it has been for a long time.

It is not clear whether it was the mother's idea to sue, and she enlisted the help of the state, or whether she applied for assistance and the state sued on her behalf to recover assistance funds. I suspect the latter, from the article. Either way, that's wrong. If it can be shown that he was underage at the time of the conception (which of course it can), then he should not be held responsible. Period. If an underage person does not have the ability to consent, they are not responsible, regardless of gender.

One would hope, for the child's sake, that an adult parent would chose to be involved, but that is a responsibility that should not be forced upon them.

At least in some states the circumstances of statutory rape are recognized if there is a conviction, but especially in the case of a male minor, that doesn't always happen. But it's not exactly difficult to figure out the truth in these cases.

According to United States Department of Justice document Criminal Victimization in the United States, there were overall 173,610 victims of rape or sexual assault, or 0.1% of the US population 12 or older in 2013.

That's roughly one rape every 181.65 seconds - a smidge over 3 minutes.

I know this was directed at Lucy, but Awareness, that wasn't fair in the least. How many women on this board, whether they identify as feminists or not, have ever said, "Yay! Look at that. An underage person got sexually assaulted. What a good thing."

(After reading the link you provided, sorry, but I'd absolutely rather see the charges filed. It completely blows the theory of statute of limitations for evidence not existing. Another topic, but throwing it in there.)

That's not actually correct. Peer therapy and assistance has been shown to be very effective. Some other examples of where it works are with firefighters, folks in the military, people in recovery, cancer patients, and different types of grief counseling. It's very beneficial for a person to receive their outreach from someone who has been through a similar situation and made it through to the other side.
