"The Walking Dead" is my guilty pleasure. I know you hate the fact that "AMC" (America Movie Classics) produces tv shows, but some of them are pretty good. So, just for fun... Once more, I have to question the fear factor of Zombies in general. quote:
The reasons are simple: 1) Zombies are animated corpses, which rot, which means that, unless there is an ice age, the Zombies will, within a few days, fall apart due to the rotting skin no longer being able to keep the limbs attached. Nah. One word for ya. Ligaments. Check out this nasty, little thing called "degloving" It's basically any action where all of the skin is ripped off of the finger or the entire hand. Skin's gone, but the fingers still move. (It's really kind of gross. Don't look it up unless you have a strong stomach.) quote:
2) A grandmother in a standard motorize scooter can out run the damn things. This is a point of contention for all zombie fans. Speed of the undead varies depending on what you watch. Even on TWD, depending on the season, some walkers move faster than others. quote:
3) Brains lack any nutritional value as a food source. Sorry, but the brain is fat but works with protein, or at least, the way it communicates with the body is about protein. The brain itself is primarily fat and water, but without protein (and our electro-pulses) the brain could never send our bodies messages to move. quote:
4) the known street drug that induces the behavior also has the unfortunate side effect of raising the body temperature of the user to the point that, after a couple of hours under the adverse effects, the poor user will usually suffer a stroke, most of the time, a fatal one. According to TWD lore, the TS19 episode in particular, it's not the bites that make us sick. It's some kind of blood born pathogen that we already have. That's why everybody turns. Doesn't matter how you die. It's in all of us. quote:
5) In every Zombie movie I have every watched, the unaffected survivors of the plague/event always try to seek refuge in some structure that they cannot escape from if necessary but the Zombies can get in with little problem. >>>This goes back to the classic horror movies where the woman sees the monster coming toward the house, runs inside, up the stairs and into a room with no other exit short of jumping out a window. Most people don't think about that stuff. Doesn't take zombies to do it.
