“Russia, if you’re listening I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press,” Trump said during a news conference at his South Florida resort on Wednesday.

Not "found", as in past tense. "are able to find", as in present, ongoing tense.

"Able to find", in terms of English sentence structure sounds about right.

If he said, "Were Able to found", that's not right English is it?

I mean, that's exactly the way I would word it, like if I knew for sure you have hacked into someone, I'd say to you, "I hope you are able to find these emails for me on that person", because I know you have them, and I would still say "are able to find".

Able to find, doesn't mean "go hack her emails". To me, it still means check their own data, that they have hacked, to see if they got copies of 30k emails.
After all when did Russia hacking begin? It could be before Hillary even deleted her emails. Also hacking probably happens silently.
Anyway even if Russia has them, they won't admit it, and would just hang on to it quietly.

I hope you were able to find implies that the "finding" process is completed. If he had said that, then he could argue that he was talking about looking in what they already had.

I hope you are able to find implies that the process is still ongoing. Whether he meant looking through material already acquired, or continue hacking, is completely open to interpretation. And even conservatives and people within the intelligence community are interpreting it as an invitation to continue the hacking.

It is just another example of how careless he is in his speech and manner.

Lordy. What a weird world we live in, if the man at the head of the campaign to 'make America great again' turns out to be a traitor to America. Just madness.

If you paid attention he did not encourage them to hack Clinton, he encouraged them to release what they already had and which Hillary has assured us was nothing important.

And it was a joke.

If they were destroyed it would be too late to find them wouldn't it?
Not only that it cound mean dig them back up from where you have stored them.

Besides, what difference, at this point, does it make just what he said.

On top of all that if there was nothing harmful in them when she created them (and kept them on a unsecured server) how could finding them now harm national security. After all, if a email isn't harmful it isn't harmful.

You either have to say no harm no foul, or Hiliary should be in jail.

What the Russians may or may not have is not the issue. It is Trump's irresponsible behavior. Behavior that has been called out by top Republicans, and individuals in the intelligence community.

What the Russians may or may not have isn't the issue.
What Hillary leaked isn't the issue.
What people who take orders from Obama say is important.
What neverTrumpers say is important.
If you can't be offended by what Hillary did it is petty to be offended by what Trump did.

I never said that I wasn't offended by what Hillary did. I think she is corrupt, I have absolutely stated that on these boards. I think she is full of shit and deleted the emails. But that is one issue.

But now we are seeing more of Trump's recklessness because of the emails. Separate issue.

It is possible to think that they are both wrong. Just because I dislike what one does doesn't mean that I support what the other does. Its just than in this case, one pisses me off, and the potential of the other scares me.

Trump pisses me off, and Hillary is more of a threat than the Soviet Union ever was.

"Trump pisses me off, and Hillary is more of a threat than the Soviet Union ever was. "

The cold war was a marketing strategy by defense contractors. Well not in the beginning but it became that. But to actually attack ?

You are a leader of a country. You have all kinds of money. You have a nice olady. You have a good life.

Why destroy that ?

Nukes are worth shit, otherwise, somewhere in the middle east they would have been used. Maybe Israel against Iran. Pakistan against Turkey. Who knows these days ?

Anyone starts that shit it is going to turn out bad.

End of the day, most people cannot possibly make it in life without being somewhat flexible, learn from their mistakes and keep tweaking. Trump has his own conviction and ways of doing things, but throughout this campaign, you also observe his willingness to listen and take other people's advice.
Mike Pence is a perfect example. Not his choice. But the right choice to unite the GOP.
Using tele-prompters now so that his speech can be more managed.
I feel as an inexperience politician, he has an idea of how things should run, but he will learn along the way, what lines he can push and what he cannot.
And let's put it this way, the destruction of America will not benefit his Trump name in any way. He has alot riding on this. His entire legacy could be destroyed by simply being remembered as the worst President in US History. And Trump is a business man, he believes in results as outcome.
I don't know if he can deliver his promises, but I believe he has enough fire to prove everybody wrong and produce what he promised.

Hillary..., I just can't stand that she keeps using the woman's card. And then you got all these big great women who keeps repeating the woman's card story, including Michelle Obama herself. Seriously, wtf!
And while I don't think Hillary is gonna destroy America but I think she will just be mediocre President. Not worthy for a first female President. She got that unfairly, almost like affirmative action, with super delegates. Her husband was President. And her track record as a politician was very mediocre, not remembered for anything spectacular that she has accomplished. I love to see female leaders rise up world wide, in any country, love to see a female lead. But I feel the ones in Australia and the ones in UK never had to use the woman's card. Why does US have to? For a woman to get there? It's horrible! When I saw Pakistan and Philippines and now Taiwan with a Female Leader, I was super happy to see that! None of them use woman's card to rise.

If Hillary becomes the First Female President of the US, I don't think history can proudly say that she rise up by being the people's choice, but it was rigged internally to get her there. She did not become the dem nominee by pure merit of her ability. At least the First Black President, as much as I was not a fan, but I have to say that, he fought a very tough and fair battle, and his opponent, McCain and Mittens, are just, are simply not as good as him. And he beat Hillary within his own party being a nobody.

I have met some Russians. Cool people. And they are no longer "Reds". Shit, they moved away from that as we moved toward it. Is the Russian government so paranoid they have recordings of every phone conversation ? Do they have a computer they have to pump water FROM ANOTHER STATE just to cool it while it archives every keystroke, unless disconnected from the internet.

Now that you mention it, have seen newer laptops with no actual mechanical switch to turn off the wifi. Mine has one. Eight years old, but I CAN make it secure.

But, anything I have typed out and set to the internet, the NSA has because it went through.

I actually have to give Trump props on this one. He was able to jab Hillary while also mocking the Hillary handler (or whatever role he is in) that attempted to paint Russia and Trump together.

If I thought he actually said it with the intention you stated above, it might be clever. But I think its one more of a case of his mouth running while the brain was not engaged. He got lucky that it had this affect as well.
