I gotta say, I feel like my race is very power hungry and ambitious by DNA. Their slow progress is due to infighting within the country where a power hungry race have a hard time unifying and working together towards the same goal, since everybody wants to be on top of each other. So they keep pulling each other down. I don't think Russia is any concern at all. China, I have no doubt, has lofty goals to become the next world's super power. China is selling more and more weapons to the rest of the world, a new study says. Its exports of major arms soared 88% between the 2006-2010 period and 2011-2015, according to a report published Monday by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). The country has been securing a bigger slice of an expanding pie. Other nations -- including the U.S., Russia and Britain -- also saw their arms exports increase over the same period, SIPRI said, although nowhere near as rapidly as China's. The Chinese military, meanwhile, is buying fewer and fewer weapons from abroad as the country's homegrown programs progress. It has fallen from "by far the largest importer" at the start of the century to third place behind India and Saudi Arabia in the most recent period, according to the study. "China is increasingly capable of producing its own advanced weapons and has become less dependent on arms imports," it said, noting that Beijing still needs to shop overseas for certain key items, like large transport aircraft and engines. Nothing to do with DNA at all. The people are repressed by a communist power. Same for North Korea, except they are broke and can't afford what China is doing. Humans in general are a power-hungry and warring species. Most times they cannot work together for a common goal except in small groups. The Chinese are no different to anyone else. Russia is stuck (tyranny is a good as word as any - why is that different from secular) - sanctions snap at its balls with razor like teeth.....hence they like to flex their wee muscles. China - is modernising at a pace not bested in the last century Their leaders and their corruption will eventually fall withint 1-2 generations..I will reiterate chinas approach was far more progressive than Russia Both those nations their people are far more progressive than your average American Hmm North Korea - should fall within my lifetime - but brainwashing and conditioning to that extent is unparalleled in the modern world, not even bested by these religious warmongering zealots.

Greta, the Chinese live in a society of 1.6 billion people. Think about that. 1.6 billion people with a lifestyle that sucks. Consequently, life is cheap and competition is unbelievably fierce. When I lived in NZ, I met a convenience store clerk whose visa was up and she was hoping for an extension. Because otherwise she would have to return to Shanghai. She didn't want to return to Shanghai. By comparison, NZ was paradise. And when you think about it, the reason why is striking. Even if you're in the top 2% when it comes to intelligence, you are competing with - wait for it - 32 million other people for great jobs and lifestyle. And that's not even touching the reality that intelligence is by no means the only arbiter of success. Life in China is horrifically competitive. Which is why so many Chinese will literally kill people to get a better lifestyle.

In general, USians are very overconfident in the military. They think spending more means more power, it does not. And Russia IS a problem if the US starts shit over there. They have almost as any nukes as we do, and they can manufacture. Worrying about China, well if they are selling weapons maybe they aren't going to start shit. If you are going to start shit you stockpile weapons, not get rid of them. Unless of course they are selling defective weapons, like the air defense system that got sold to Saddam. It was useless. Well not to belabor the reasonably objective standards of a superpower but that word more than anything, means...the projection of power. A land army is of little value...stuck on their land. (even with what is in fact less than 20% of the world's population estimated as of 3/16) Making things means little if they too...can't leave home. Only the US can can 'project' real power and it can do so world wide. An economic superpower is not just in production but is also in such voluminous consumption and pay or borrow for it and that too much of the world...depends on it. Yes, the Chinese have nukes but their reach is limited which requires one to do a very good job of convincing anyone else, in just what situation...they would ever use them.

You suggest Americans make erroneous assumptions about foreign successes or poverty. You are wrong. US manufacturing is over $2 trillion out of which exports are $1.4 trillion and is 3rd over all in exports behind China (we know why) and the EU and we know why. America exports of manufactured goods has grown by 52% under Obama form 09-14. Apparently America in fact has a 'lottsa stuff' to sell and to foreigners. Those 'boots on the ground' in Russia and China are on Russian and Chinese ground with no way to go anywhere. It's real easy to threaten your neighbors and you don't need a navy. And honestly there is no such overconfidence in our govt. and military planners you speak of and it is incredulous to even suggest that Russia and China could take over the US in a matter of months. It starts with their unique upbringing that is not really practice in many other race culture. All work and no play starts from childhood. Don't think you can be a 2 yr old and not be filled with 8 hours of home work everyday! Many chinese kids in Singapore, by 2 yr old, are already attending full day school. And then more tuition and work after school. But you don't see Indians, Caucasians or Malays doing that to their kids.

It's their culture, That's why compared to the Russians, who are more contented and not as ambitious, I mean regular Russian people compared to the regular Chinese. The real threat are really the Chinese. The ones who haven't killed themselves in childhood, have already gone through extraordinary abuse by their own parents and survived. But to be clear, I don't approve of such child raising methods. Just that, it is reality, that's how they do what they do today. And have resilient people of their races all over the world. That's what give their race an edge, the burning desire to be on top.
