Like a boxer on the ropes, the Trump campaign has weathered a flurry of body blows over the past few weeks. Is this the beginning of the end, a full three months before election day? Should Donald Trump throw in the towel before the inevitable November knockout?

My last Turnip thread then I well switch to other threading Science witches cake cats etc

What I want to know is can he resign step down etc? and what then happens. Can he be replaced and by whom and how.

I don't think he's obliged to take the job in the event of him winning an election: he could probably just refuse to be sworn in. I'd imagine (as the drunk says) that his veep will then be sworn in instead, which would suit the Republicans a lot better. They might need to find another vice president, though, and I have no idea what the hell the procedure for that would be. I don't think (but I could be wrong) that they appointed anybody as LBJ's understudy after Kennedy got shot, until he was voted in for his first full term.

He performed well friday, he admitted he was wrong about seeing the video of the "ransom" being loaded on the plane, and he finally went ahead and endorsed Ryan, Ayotte and McCain.
Had he gone a little further off the rails, yes, I think he would have dived into the toilet, but now...nah, not so much.
One day of him behaving like a human isnt going to save him, but he has a handhold back up.

It aint over till it's over. I still think he has a really good chance.

Much as a Trump presidency terrifies me, I don't think Hilary is exactly loved. I get the sense that the great populist will be forgiven everything if he can pull himself together and start to look presidential. After all he got away with exhorting his followers to violence against opponents and calling Mexicans rapists.

He hasn't actually eaten a baby yet so there has to still be hope for his die-hard supporters.

He did come quite close, though.

yeah his striking affinity for "respecting" women was on show all week!

With Mrs Kahn, Ivanka on sexual harassment and the baby/mother pissing him off.
But it could have been a lot worse.
It was a hell of a week for his campaign staff too.

I know what he is....

If he was half the man half wit billy the goat is...he would resign/step aside for a man.

Can he resign? Is what I am asking. If yes what happens? has it ever happened before?

Yes of course he can.

No idea, I suppose it depends on what rules, if any, the RNC has with respect to such a thing. At the moment the Constitution does not apply as it says nothing about candidates other than some basic prerequisites.

Not to my knowledge.

He can't resign without being elected.

Yes, he can resign. If he resigns before the nomination, his vp pick is void. RNC will choose a new prez nom and that nom will choose his or her own running mate. Each party has its own rules and is free to make up new rules as they go. They just put it to a vote. As long as there is a quorum, the RNC is good to go.

No, it has never happened but people have died right before and right after noms. Replacements to that are really unelectable but it is possible.

Every party has their own governing rules and most of the time delegates are not obligated to vote for replacements if the constituency hasn't had the opportunity to vote in which case a special election can be called. That would have to come out of the given parties pocket and not from federal funds.

Noms can be replaced at the discretion of the given party so, in this case, the RNC would have to say "who". I would suspect they would choose Pence and a prop who can secure a swing state.

It won't help. Hills was gifted with obamas playbook and pretty much secured the actual counties she needs to get pretty close to obamas winning numbers in 2012 which were not as good as 08 but still enough to win.

Look at a map of wins by county for obamas two wins..they are almost identical..then look at where Hils is spending money and what's happening in those counties. All the red is empty pasture as my Bop used to say and cows don't vote. The density matters and you don't need to win a 100 counties with two people each when you can win one county wth 50,000 people in it.

With less than 100 days left I don't think Trump can catch up to the Obama Machine that Hils adopted but stranger things have happened.

Now, I happen to live in California and this state belongs to Clinton no matter what..but she is getting my vote anyway as she will nom the SCOTUS justices over the next four years and those are not temp jobs. I think I answered all your questions correctly as I recall but it has been decades since I was in school! Even so.. I am close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades and as you can't vote, that's close enough. :)

I think that screaming kids and crying babies should be escorted the fuck out of public places. With the Parents stupid enough to bring them there. That means court, restaurants and bars, grocery stores, funerals, anywhere. You bring a kid in there that disrupts, it is you that disrupts, so please accompany your kid to the exit.

I have no fucking tolerance for that shit. I have been in court and these bitches bring their kid to court with them so they don't get thrown in jail. Every once in a while it backfires on them and they get locked up and the kid goes to CPS. I mean, they were busted at a fucking crack house, they could find someone to watch their kid then, why not now ?

Find fault, but find it where it really is. The kid cannot vote so he has no business there, period. Just like Bengazi and Clinton. She has plenty of dirty laundry that you don't have to accuse her of killing people just because she didn't turn an embassy into a military base. (and if it was like the ones in the US, apparently would not have worked anyway)

People make a big stink about little things while ignoring the big things. The issue is to vote against the one more likely to start WW3. Right now I think it is Trump, because of what Clinton has said, unless she is lying to the Jews. She said we will attack Iran. Even dumbass Trump is not dumb enough to say something like that, but she did it for Jewish support, which is pretty important. That they run the media is NOT a conspiracy theory, a few of them have bragged about it. If pressed, I can probably find the quote on the net. But you don't even need that. Just look up the owners of the major media outlets and then wiki them. Time and time again you will prove me right. A notable exception is Rupert Murdoch. But he does "play ball" with them.

I believe Clinton is not aware of how much we are sick of this half trillion to attack other countries all the time ad then take in regugees who want to kill us. I think Trump is, and as much of an asshole he is, his intentions are better. She doesn't give a fuck about this country at all.

That's your choices. Might just be WW3 by accident or on purpose, your call.

To be fair, if you were a baby and your mum had dragged you into a rally where you were confronted by that, you'd probably start screaming yourself. I've seen less frightening looking monsters in horror films, FFS.
