Get ready, because I have something to say and am an expert on the subject. Used to be, if a cop saw you driving erratically would make you park the car and mail your keys to your home. Even use his own stamp and envelope. You were a member of the community, not what they now call a "civilian". They protected and served the public, not the government. They made your ass walk home, or if it was really too far give you a ride partway there. They didn't even look in your glovebox to see if you had a gun. There were some times they had to bust someone, but usually because they were being an asshole and they didn't want to let them out on the streets because they were likely to cause problems. These were peace officers, which differ greatly from what we have now. Now about the drinking and driving, I can drink a 12 pack and drive better than most people sober. They are fucking stupid. They do not know who has the right of way, they pull out right in front of you or open the car door right in front of you. Twice in about the last month my buddy, near my home, had to do some extreme accident avoidance because of some red headed broad in a black car. And when he shouts "HEY" she starts bitching as if she did nothing wrong. She is probably not drinking but just a dense bitch who thinks she can do no wrong. I hope the person who kills her or rips the driver's door off her car is not drinking, or has a fast enough car to get away. She should not be on the road at all. But now the DUI has become a revenue stream for cities hurting for money. They will say "We have to increase the fines" even though the incidence of DUI caused deaths is at its lowest level ever. They have to increase the fines because they stole the money and they need more. I had one of the best lawyers for this shit and back in the 1980s he said straight out "It is legalised extortion". Know what I think ? I think there should be no DUI laws, though police should have the power to take you off the road if you are obviously fucked up. But now comes the hard part. You drunk and hit another car it is vandalism, cause an injury it is assault with a deadly weapon, and if you kill someone it is first degree murder. In other words, since you willfully drank and drove, what you did is considered a willing act. Holding people responsible for their action will separate the Men from the boys. Just like mental illness, not an excuse. Technically, when intoxicated you could be considered mentally ill. Judgement all fucked up, whatever else like not care about shit like an autistic person. And you made yourself that way on purpose. Therefore anything you do while in that state is on purpose. Fair enough ? What this would do is remove their revenue stream, but for the betterment of society as a whole. I have known people who could drink a fifth of rum and drive perfectly, even operate heavy machinery. And there are others who can't drive after two beers. And there are some who just shouldn't drive at all. It used to be that you were punished for your actions. But if a cop pulls you over for a dead taillight and smells alcohol you go to jail for nothing.. It is the stupid motherfuckers who can't drive and cause accidents who need to get off the road, not some guy who has been driving for forty years with no accidents who happened to stop at the bar on the way home from work. But they turned it into a moneymaker. They turned everything into a moneymaker. They turned global warming into a moneymaker. Carbon credits are just a license to pollute, they reduce nothing, but it is a revenue stream. Taxes on cigarettes for example, just a new revenue. They do not care about you or your well being, and they hope bad things can happen to you so that they can tax something else. Eventually they will tax you when you take a shit, and actually they already do. There is an old court case where the supreme court ruled that if there is no victim there is no crime. Someone should find that and start using it. And don't get me wrong, you hurt or kill someone, or even damage their property you need to pay for that. But then we got that kid a few years back that used the "allfuenza" defense. He killed four fucking people. All high and drunk and shit and he got off easy because his Mommy and Daddy never taught him right from wrong. With the "tough" laws they shove down everyone else's throat, you think that is OK ? Dasvedanya. T^T
