I think that's exactly it. They're not really Dominant, so they compensate by being an asshole. I've seen plenty of male "Doms" with that attitude too.

the female Dominants I know all have a presence. Including my ex sister in law. there is one female Dominant I know around here, she's very tough with her slave, but the intellect and her demeanor everyone respects her on both sides, I can't explain it, it's something to be seen.

I generally do not blame popular media for much, but in this case I'm going to throw a dart right at it. D/s shocks people and Nillas focus on the whips and chains aspect, not understanding the mechanics of D/s at all. While there are some folks who really dig the humiliation aspect of D/s as a primary kink, this is misconstrued by novices and Nillas to mean that people want an ahole/bitch to just be a dick about everything. I'm guessing there are some folks who dig that though, so I'm not going to judge. If they do more power too them. I can see where it'd be offensive to most subs. It is also generally a sign of inexperience with the community.

On the flip side, tolerance is kind of a necessary unevil of D/s. I have no comprehension of how a male sub's mind works. That doesn't mean I'm going to disparage them for being who they are. We all share a commonality if we are here.

In general posts like the lead post on this thread where a private communication is taken out of context and whoever said it gets put in the stocks for public humiliation is rather distasteful in my opinion unless the post is a warning about unsafe actions or activity. One of my peeves about the D/s community is how quick it is to lynch fellow members on minor infractions instead of taking a mentoring role to grow the community and make it a safer community for all.

I do take offense when so called Dominants are being a holes to me. I don't like it in the vanilla world either when people treat me badly.

on fet I tried to be a mentor to a "slave" who was a newbie got herself hooked up with someone that took her for a ride, lost everything she owned just about and wouldn't go to the police because of embarrassment and she said if a Dominant want to rob her blind she couldn't stop them she's just a submissive.

I told her if any Dominant tried to rob me blind and used my submission as an excuse for me not to be allowed to get my stuff back, I would use those self defense moves that I take at work.
