Hi all - I had a wonderful online/phone/text relationship with the sweetest, most romantic man who lived too far away. He was smart, sexy, funny, and made me feel like a queen. Sadly, last week I sent him a text to say hello, and shortly was sent a message from his son that my friend had passed away from a heart attack. I am utterly devestated. Although we never met, I loved him, and I know he loved me. I called his number, thinking it was a joke, and talked to his son. It was true. The next day he sent me his father's service infirmation, that included information about his family, including his WIFE and his REAL NAME. Needless to say, this was info I did not know. So now I am dealing with the pain of this sweet man's death AND his deception. I am heartbroken. I miss him terribly and I can not even communicate with his family. I was his "dirty little secret." :'(

I am sorry for your loss... People somethings don't understand the strong feelings that can develop online between two people...

I am sorry for you loss.

Unfortunately your story, the deceit bit, is more common than not. It will explain why I get a bit riled at times when I see/hear things far moved from reality...and now and then I will do a sophist rant as someone non credible sets me off its the untold damage they do to other peoples hearts, minds and souls that bothers me.

You are fortunate in that you know. Some of these people just vanish for eternity, sometimes they come back with a new identity.

Distance - the last person to meet me travelled, as the fair griffin flies, 9000km. Takes me about 1 hour to drive to Edinburgh 1 hour to fly to Dublin, London (5-8 hour drive) Which I am sure I could fly to the west coast in about that time, and the east for the 5 bit.

In essence distance and time should never be a problem...money perhaps

I have had my share of the deceit - I have dated men whose wives found my number on their phone and called me. Extremely embarrassing. But it is easier to move on from a liar than from a person you loved, despite the deceit, and trying to explain your grief to people who do not understand is horrible.
