Alright, I do not know how many forum users have gotten "pity me" messages from some one claiming to be a US citizen, legal alien resident, etc who need help getting back to the states from some country in which even a discount airline ticket is gonna run over a grand, but here are some helpful tips. 1) US Citizens stranded in another country for reasons other than they are part of an ongoing criminal investigation (and there are exceptions to that) can go to the nearest embassy or consulate and show some proof of citizenship and the State Department will then get them home (and since the government does nothing for free they can expect a bill from the government unless the country is in the middle of a civil war/invasion.) 2) Legal aliens on a student visa can get help from the school or the organization that got them to the states in the first place. 3) Legal aliens on a work visa wouldnt be stranded if it were work related, and if they are stranded, then they probably got fired, and as such the visa is voided anyway.
