WhoreMods -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/24/2016 9:44:28 AM)

Did any of the short lived UK SF series make it to the 'States? I know Space 1999 and UFO were big there, but how about the daft Back To The Future rip-off with Hayden Gwynne on a magic motorcycle or Ultraviolet?

I remember some of those listed, but not Quark, or Lexx. I have Firefly on my hard-drive I think.

Some of them were good, Firefly for one.

I vaguely remember Firefly being not bad. But Man from Atlantis ... that looked like it was old fashioned. By that time it seemed like the *really* silly fantasy shows were past their sell-by date. Mind you, that predated Knight Rider, which was possibly the silliest show of all time.

WhoreMods -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/24/2016 10:56:52 AM)

Didn't they try to relaunch Knight Rider a while back and it stiffed?
(The real bad with that was the rip-offs: helicopters, motorbikes, you name it.)

Wasn't the chopper 'Nighthawk'? I have music in my head that I think is for that. There was a Saturday night tv slot for those things. Not sci-fi, but the A-Team also 'filled the slot' at one time too, a long with a whole host of dross.

Airwolf I think.
(Just look at that old fashioned Soviet era military uniform!)
It's a shame booze destroyed Jan-Michael Vincent's career: you could tell he was a good actor even in shite like this and Damnation Alley...

needlesandpins -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/24/2016 11:33:27 AM)

Yep, you're right on the name, but I had the right music playing in my head. God knows where I got the name I was thinking from, although I think my dad always called it 'Shitehawk', so may be I'm trying to make a reasonable connection lol

I think Streethawk was the thing with a motorbike of the same vintage. Maybe that's what your dad was having a go at?

needlesandpins -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/24/2016 11:38:14 AM)

Could well be. I have no idea now. It will be one of those things that will suddenly pop in to my head one day during mid conversation, so I'll ask him about it, and he probably won't even remember, just to infuriate me even more [:D]

He's probably better off. I'm starting to find it a bit worrying that i can remember all this crap, if I'm honest.

needlesandpins -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/24/2016 11:48:07 AM)

Yes, very true [:D]

Barbara Bain my first crush - a silver hair witch with perky orbs for I am a man of great depth

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space:_1999
read

in essence it was co UK/American

Debate rages with the voices that inhabit my head what the best intro for a tv show was and space 1999 makes my top 10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLAsBzOOhLQ

Knight rider yes they did 18 new episodes 2008
V - I liked the very last episode - 2009 23 episodes
although the original was superior https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4a4E9Qlaa0
Red dwarf never got past the pilot although they still make it here :)

Blakes 7 i heard a couple years ago they were going to reboot that - but they have not so far :(

angelikaJ -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/24/2016 2:55:02 PM)

We were introduced to Barbara Bain in 1966 via Mission Impossible, although her career began in the 50s.
She played Cinnamon Carter.
She acted with her then-husband and future Space 1999 co-star Martin Landau.

WickedsDesire -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/24/2016 3:20:37 PM)

she was my first crush one above me wait...technically it was wonder women

jlf1961 -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/24/2016 4:07:01 PM)

Diana Rigg.

angelikaJ -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/25/2016 5:48:00 AM)

I agree that Dianna Rigg had a certain je ne sais quoi, but Honor Blackman's Cathy Gayle was no small slouch either.

WhoreMods -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/25/2016 6:50:47 AM)

Somebody'll be on about Joanna Lumley next.
(Did Sapphire and Steel make it to the 'States?)

jlf1961 -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/25/2016 7:14:37 AM)

As Bond girls go, she was greatly over rated.

WickedsDesire -> RE: Who remembers these? (8/25/2016 10:45:42 AM)

Ah Sapphire and Steel I tried to re watch that about 6 years ago. I think I gave up, and yet it terrified me when I was younger

This bit of my profile, if I have it up, is homage to Sapphire and Steel able to freeze myself to absolute zero which gives me the ability to destroy 'ghosts', which are in actuality remnants of Time

Sapphire & Steel for those unaware is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapphire_%26_Steel
