Rich? Have you seen our "debt clock"? Some of us don't want to see our health care go the same route as Social Security...broke and only breaking further. They've already stated that by 2030 they'll have to reduce SS benefits to 75% of what we've been promised without reducing taxes equally. So right about the time I'm set to retire, I'll automatically lose 25% of my benefits and I still have to pay in at the same rate until then.

Fuck "social" everything.

Exactly. Now you are "entitled". And of course better than the rest of us because you fought for the oil companies because either A. They offered you the world or B. You had no future other than that.

Unless you are insane and like killing people. It really is OK as long as you admit it. When we go to that biker bar I am bringing my gun either way. Because I am sure if not your fucking mouth will get us killed.

I need to throw my 2 cents into this socialized medicine thing if folks don't mind... I am Canadian... 3 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure. Dialysis, procedures for installing devices for 2 different types of dialysis, treatments, both hemo and peritoneal dialysis, testing and eventually a transplant. I know dialysis treatments in a centre are about 800 dollars a session, I was doing them 3 days a week for about 6 months. My peritoneal dialysis machine was 21k plus all the supplies for 14 months. I can't even fathom that one. The transplant work up, the surgery, a week stay in a critical unit, and all of the extra hospital stays due to complications. I walked out of the hospital each of the 3 times not owing anything.

Don't know why one of the richest counties on the planet can't do this for their own people without people bitching about it

It is because they are stealing all the money.

I was stuck with a quarter million dollar bill because they retroactively disapproved payment. Then said oh, we made a mistake but to bad for you, you still gotta pay. I have been trying since 1987 to get just one single appointment and am still waiting even tho I have applied numerous times over the years. Tell me how good socialized medicine is. And I get to pay taxes for my medical devices to boot. There is no upside as far as I am concerned.

Tell me what socialized medicine you have that you are waiting on an appointment since 1987.

It's amazing what countries can afford if they don't have $6 trillion of wars going on all the time, not to mention $3.5 trillion bank bail outs due to idiotic deregulation. That's not including the economic cost, which was much higher.

But it's Social Security that's causing us to go broke, right?

I find this hard to believe. Not that they fuck you over but the whole story. If you were disabled since 17, where the fuck did you get ANY money ?

I do not disagree, the system is fucked up, but when you bitch about it use pure facts, do not embellish. Then nobody can fuck with you about it.

It's also amazing what a country can afford, when they let the U.N. and U.S. be their de facto military.

He never said he has been disabled since he was 17.
He joined the military at 17. Military medicine in sociolized medicine.
He became disabled later.

And here is the crux Ken.... what you have is NOT socialized medicine.
It is medical costs approved by private insurance companies - very big difference!
Socialized medicine is paid for from the public purse, not private companies that are only interested in profits.
You might see it as "socialized medicine" but it isn't anything like it.

You spout that you "...get treatments that they determine are authorized".
Social medicine (generally) doesn't make any such distinctions.

You also state "I was stuck with a quarter million dollar bill because they retroactively disapproved payment".
Again, socialized medicine do not bill people for treatment - it comes out of the public purse.

And again, you say "Hospital Bed with accessories to the shower bench. Walker, wheelchair lift and so on".
Under socialized healthcare it is provided free of charge from the public purse.
The same as the costs for the doctors, nurses, medication, equipment etc - all from the public purse.

You bang on about your 'socialized medicine' but you aren't getting "socialized medicine".
What you are getting is approved costings from a privately funded scheme.
That's not socialized healthcare - not even close.

When you actually experience proper socialized healthcare, you'll see the difference.
The main thing being - you don't get a bill and the costs aren't calculated for the patient.
And interestingly, our social healthcare costs regarding taxes to pay for it are much lower than that of the US.
Someobody can't count over there.

MrRodgers -> RE: Another Socialized Medicine/Health Success (8/27/2016 7:47:19 AM)

Health care in the US is 'exceptional' in not being about health care. Just as in 'socialized' defense...it is always all about the fucking money. (an MRI can range from about $600 to $3,000 or more, why ?) In Japan, an MRI around $100...almost everywhere.

The social sec. 'trust fund' was raped, the military medical benefits system has been raped, in the US for-profit medical regime...you will be raped. Medicare is being raped and insurance companies spend time (money) in negotiating to reduce medical bills.

Even when a friend divorced, with a child that had MD, at $18/hr, got nothing from the MDA. With no assistance at all, had to get a used elect. wheel chair for $3,500. (80's) This is a private, fairly flush, tax-free funded non-profit and with a less than middle class applicant, [it] couldn't even provide any assistance at all for a wheel chair.

And the MDA is often held up as an excellent example of non-profit assistance for the deserving masses. Sure they are.

Monsters.
As is anyone who thought the separation of two souls entwined for 62 years is anything other than a true monstrosity.
Monsters also be the family. What creature gets from torturing its grandparents is beyond me and why it is jolly decent for the mad whore bint of insanity to make martyrs out of them – how noble.

She is clearly unfit and should be locked in bedlam and pumped full of experimental drugs.
Sometimes, some of you truly appal me.

Her granddaughter, “is it safe”(marathon man - read a book) the torturer, is not fit to take donations on account of her being utterly mad. But someone decent should and what is left should be spent on the fight for this never happening again to two couples.

You people volunteered for that in order to keep the UN funding NATO after the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact ceased to exist back in the early '90s and maintain the lucrative sinecures large chunks of your military had lucked into during the cold war. Whining about it now seems a little disingenuous.
