WhoreMods -> Music of the 1970s: comparable to the '60s stuff? (8/27/2016 9:51:49 AM)

Because if the 'Sixties was all the Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Hendrix and Who*, rather than shite like Ohio Express, Ken Dodd and The Shadows, then it seems a bit off to dismiss the following ten years on the grounds of a novelty record you don't much like...
Kraftwerk
Buzzcocks
More Buzzcocks
Devo
Neil Young
Van Der Graaf Generator
Gary Numan
Hawkwind
Blue Oyster Cult
Black fookin' Sabbath
The Saints
Richard and Linda Thompson
ELP
John Martyn
David Bowie
and there might, just possibly, be one or two others...

*(Who put out their best album in 1970, it's worth remembering)

Depends on the motor actually, but most can be machined and reused, unless they happen to be cracked.

Grew up on country (Outlaw Country anyone?) but I love Clapton, Santana, some of the later Glam rock groups then I hit the 80s and Metal crept into my soul...

WhoreMods -> RE: Music of the 1970s: comparable to the '60s stuff? (9/1/2016 8:41:50 AM)

I'd not thought of the country stuff, but that was a very big '70s thing, true enough. Tends to get ignored a bit on this side of the pond, which is a shame.

Lucy, I'm told Suzy Quattro was a big influence on Joan Jett, and I can definitely see that one.

WhoreMods -> RE: Music of the 1970s: comparable to the '60s stuff? (9/1/2016 10:44:19 AM)

John Peel was a big deal in the '70s as well...
