Status: offline 		A work colleague. Turns out our grandmothers were born in the same town and worked at the same bakers. I told her my grandmother got TB from the flour and this eventually killed her. She then relayed this story to other work colleagues but said it was her grandmother who got TB which eventually killed her I had told her that my grandmother had been head baker and invented a cake called the 'cream horn'. She then told everyone that her grandmother was the head baker and invented the 'cream horn'.

I'm guessing this is pathological lying?

Okay. I'll give a serious answer.

I could be wrong (but I doubt it), but I think one of the main ingredients to "pathological" is the person has to actually believe the lies they're telling.

The word "liar" gets thrown around, a lot; especially here. It's misused, quite a bit, but I'll leave that, for now and live to fight another day.

"Pathological" gets added by people in a very willy-nilly fashion. I think it's obvious that they do it to "strengthen" their argument or, simply to completely negate the person they're arguing with; to dehumanize them.

I think the anti-Christ is a flat-out liar. I don't think that human sewer can open her mouth without lying, but I have always stopped just short of "Pathological". One of the reasons is that if you watch and listen to her, objectively, you can pretty much tell that she doesn't believe the bullshit she's laying down. I think that's one of the reasons she's so easily identifiable as a liar (ask 70% of the country).

Pathological liars are often tougher to spot because since they believe their own bullshit, they seem to have an amazing power of persuasion. They manage to convince (some of) those around them that they're actually telling the truth.

I've never seen Mrs. Bill Clinton as "pathological". I believe her to be evil, mean, vicious, spiteful, possibly bi-polar, and vindictive, but I don't think she believes her own bullshit. I think she just slings it and hopes it sticks.

what rather follows from that is an inability to be truthful.

As bad as some of the people are mentioned on this thread, and I'm surprised no one has mentioned Bill Clinton, and for far more than just a sub-standard blow job; it would have to be some serial killer or other.

Ted Bundy did a decent trade in telling it not how it was, as did every other serial killer in history.

Not sure many could compare to Ted's brazen defence of himself when he was bang to rights, but it's fair to say none of them are a full shillin'.

Status: offline 		id say believing ones own lies is indeed a break from reality that could be in keeping with a mental disorder, but at the same time, it doesn't capture the whole set. that is, she can still NOT believe her own lies AND have a mental disorder.

I can make some small amendment though concerning the phrase "mental disorder" as regards Hillary, id say its also, if not more so, a "character disorder."

and I might add "serial" to my interpretation of "pathological."
