England has set the boundary in France in the sense that English officials vet people In Northern France before they reach our border.
I'm surprised the Americans haven't done something similar, i.e. used your clout to have the checking process in Mexico by your own officials.
The problem with such a system in Mexico is that all those in an official capacity sent to that country seem to instantly become agreeable to such things as bribes.
Which either means that we need to vet our own people better, or there is something in the water down there.
My personal opinion is to bring the thousands of troops still in Afghanistan and Iraq on 'advisory' status back to the states and have them patrol the borders. It seems that those in the trade of drug and people smuggling are not too scared of our law enforcement people but are terrified of any military personnel.
Now granted, putting a few thousand armed troops patrolling the border in a similar environment in which they saw combat may not prove too safe for armed drug smugglers trying to cross the border, but when a squad opens up on gun toting individuals will prove to be a deterent to somebody.
