If you ignore someone here, everyone else on this fucking planet can see their posts except you. You do not have to be a member to read this. People who stumble across this site by whatever means can see all posts. One could call you a child molester and if you got them ignored you won't respond. What are they to think ?

Ignoring is for not downloading certain songs or video to your PC. Ignoring is for assholes at the bar. I you really let people's words affect you mentally, you should not even be on an internet forum. Try Usenet, that would probably drive you fucking crazy. They got people calling Phds idiots, but really some are. Shit, stay away from the Craigslist joke forum as well, they got people accusing others of being real motherfuckers and I mean literally, and being basement boy and those who are not homosexual of sucking miles of cock.

This place is tame compared to alot of it. You should see alt.revisionism, but don't. If the shit here offends you what is there will probably kill you or cause the need for psychotropic drugs and you might go shoot up a school.

Ever hear that saying that starts "Sticks and stones may break my bones..." ?

If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.

When this forum was monitored a thread directed against individual posters would have been shut down. I think we should honor that tradition.

Actually sometimes this place is funny. I don't ignore anybody. I also do my best to never truly denigrate anybody. Maybe their commentary in a rare moment but not personally.

Similar to but not as prolific as say C-Span in the 4 AM (my time) Washington Journal which is a call-in segment for 3 hours of true comedy as one has to laugh at so many of the utterly ridiculous comments on what so many people have come to believe about this world in business, politics, religion etc. Not to mention how they feel about people in the news they seem all too determined to dislike.

What one must finally conclude is that for some reason and despite the obvious contradiction one finds in the claim of media bias while so many emotionally taking to heart some media presumably bias-free, to the point of actually waiting on the phone for long periods of time to rant on it and once again...usually only as a reflection of and reinforcement of one's own political, economical and social prejudices.

For one rare radical example might be how many people actually believe some people anywhere in the news, really are aliens. I of course have to feel that these same people aren't nearly smart enough to be aliens. Hell, if they got here then they are a whole lot smarter than any human...a whole lot smarter. And they are wasting it all on what...being popular ?

They're the alien retards: they can't pass themselves off as smart on their homeworld, so they come over here to lord it over the imbeciles of the galaxy.

I don't ignore often, but I enjoy using the ignore feature from time to time.
Eventually, I usually take the offender off ignore, after a few months or so.

The thing is, I enjoy announcing the ignore.
You can't just ignore someone, oh no!

I remember the old days on AOL, you had to announce, at least several times to anyone that would listen, that you were putting someone on ignore.

You must properly announce the ignore than flounce off.
I am so old school.

Problem is, lately you could be describing half the posters on this board.
I actually find him a bit mild, most days.

Consider properly announcing that you are going to ignore him, and flounce off.

Wow! I have all but three contributors to this thread on ignore as we speak (and it ain't likely to change).

There's a very good reason to "keep an eye" on some of the school-yard bully scumbags on here: "Silence lends assent".

I to this date never put anybody on my ignore feature before.
I have also never reported anybody ever.

I agree with Termy, that, if ya can't take the heat online, how ya gonna function in real life?

I don't know. To me. People are nasty! Many are! In real life, you get alot of fake restrained politeness. Online, you get the full on, no hold bars, since you don't cross each other path in real life most of the time.

They exist. Gotta learn to deal with it as part of life.

Now I choose to actively ignore some replies directed at me if it's too trollish. Although I can read what they say, but I choose not to be baited by nonsense and sometimes if it's a person I have no respect for their input, I simply skip their post and don't read it by choice.

But I wouldn't put someone on ignore especially like Termy said, if they decide to accuse you of something illegal that is prosecutable by law.

Only if damages can be proven. Maybe there just a false accusation can make you prosecutable but in the US to be able to do that you either have to be arrested or whatever, or show some sort of loss. Like bondability. (bondable means you can work at banks with large amounts of cash and shit like that)

If you own a business with a good reputation you might be able to have some insurance actuaries or something calculate the loss, but that is also dependent on their credibility. If a crackhead out on the street accuses a company of screwing him out of twenty dollars that is not going to go very far. If you are the BBC on the other hand and accuse ADM of something that might be different. So those people have ot watch it or they can get sued. Not in the US though. That is why I do not watch any US news. They won the right in court to lie with impunity. They can tell you it is going to be clear skies on the weather report when the whole grid knows better, and you go out and have a picnic and your stuff is destroyed by a torrential rain that other news sources predicted, and possibly give some of your older family members pneumonia, and do it because Home Depot wants to sell more grills and advertised, they are completely indemnified under US law. Want more ? Look up the Monsanto Protection Act.

With the internet, people are going to learn about all this shit eventually. The shit I say about law, most of it I can point you to dot govs on it. But then even those lie. The social security website says contribution is mandatory, IT IS NOT AND I GOT PROOF. I got probably ten proofs of this but the first and foremost of them is that congress was RECENTLY required to pay into it. Another is PERS. Another is RRTA. All of them exempt you from it.

Fucking people are so goddamn stupid I don't know how they survived this long. i know there were some smart people in the past, Kopernikus, Galileo, bunch of them, but the uneducated masses thought the Earth was flat. And by political power Ptolemy kept the truth from coming out. Knowing this, how can you trust "them" ?

I see people ignore and unignore others, and they unignore them because they saw a quote about them from someone else. Third party.

What kind of idiot does it take to not realize that if this MF has something to say about me I want to respond to it ? just put your fingers in your ears like ?

I think that an ignore feature is OK for PMs and IMs. but in the open forum it is a bad thing. You don't like what someone said about you OUT HERE WHERE THE WHOLE WORLD CAN SEE IT and you want to deny yourself the chance to respond ?

Beam me up Scotty, there is no intelligent life here.

"I agree with Termy, that, if ya can't take the heat online, how ya gonna function in real life? "

I was in a bar a long time ago and a buddy of mine was shooting pool and a guy wanted to have a game with him and he said "OK, I'll shoot you later". The guy up and hit him, thinking he meant that he was going to shoot him like with a gun. They went at it and I tellya, they were both pretty fast.

People on internet forums like this would be dead very quickly in an environment like that. And you should see Usenet.
