Myself and two female friends who ride, rode out to a restaurant/bar that is popular with bikers for lunch. We sat out on the back patio, it's quite empty, so we sit at a large table in the shade.

The three of us are talking about logistics for Babes Ride Out. A biker dude wanders over and asks if he can sit at the table and share the ashtray. We said yes and went back to our discussion. He asks what we're talking about. We explain that it's a 2500 person, all female motorycle rally...and I quip "Testicles aren't allowed"

And honest to God he says, "How will you get there if men can't go?"

[sm=Groaner.gif] Some people have no clue.

I think we were stunned in disbelief. When We informed him that we ride, his response was "ALL of you ride?" Like it's something unbelievable.

servantforuse -> RE: Today's Head Shaker (9/4/2016 8:20:01 PM)

How are you going to get there ?

servantforuse -> RE: Today's Head Shaker (9/4/2016 8:23:33 PM)

Just kidding of course. Living in a Milwaukee suburb that question would never be asked around here. There are many female riders and they all know how to get there.

San Diego has a large number of female riders, so it made that statement amazing.

Perhaps he was thinking that motorcycles still only have kick starts.

Lets face it, some of those old bikes were so tight guys had a time starting the bastards.

And then there were the bikes that were just tempermental, and sometimes would kick start on the first try while other times they wouldnt start for 20 minutes. (I had an old 53 Harley that when the weather was nice, started first time every time BUT if it was raining, or snow etc, it damn near took an act of god to start, which means that it fired right up as soon as I was completely soaked or damn near frozen in place.)

Then there are those 'die hard' bikers that go to these great meets in a motor home with their bikes on trailers.

I mean come on, if you are going to a bike rally, you ride the bike, carry a sleeping bag and rope and tarp to make a tent and a shelter for your baby (if you got a girl with you, she can get under the tarp as well.)

The last time I went to Sturgis, I saw so many motor homes with bike trailers I was thought it might be an RV gathering rather than a bike rally.

Then there are the 'toy hauler' rv's and camping trailers.

The damn things have a garage in them!

Hey Oside, I am planning a trip to Yuma for next spring, to the home of an old army buddy. Since I finally got next to the last item on my firearm bucket list, I have decided that I need a mount to ride.

My buddy inherited his father's three warehouses of bike parts (frames, motors, etc) from his father's and grandfather's old Harley and Indian dealership.

I figure a thirty foot trailer would be perfect for the trip.

We actually trailered to Sturgis -

I work for myself and I have to pay to have my clients covered while I'm on vacation - so I could spend 6 days riding to and from when I was only taking 1 week off - including the crappy freeway to Las Vegas, stop and go traffic through miles of construction in the canyons of Arizona in 110 degree heat - Or we could load up the bikes, bomb straight through in 24 hours and have more riding time in Sturgis.

I chose to ride in Sturgis rather spend time on 6 lane wide ugly freeways.
