I preferred En Tact, but Boss Drum has worn a lot better than I'd have expected in hindsight.
(Mr C still rapped like John Barnes, though...)

Nice try. Why don't you try addressing the article? Defend the changes.

why should I defend anything. you dont.

As a matter of fact, U do. You asked about Trumps racism on another thread and I found the article that pointed it out as well as several articles pointing out Hillary's racism. That's just one example.

Funny how when conservatives point out bullshit that they consider to be a problem...and that's what safe spaces, microaggressions, etc. is...it's whining. When liberals point out bullshit that they consider a problem it's not whining...it's vitally important truth.

Agree or disagree with this schools policies? Or do you just care to go on deflecting?

He made a couple of crappy rap records as well. Excellent mid fielder, but his word skills were barely any better than Tony Hawks'...

He was my hero back in the 80s, he wasnt half as much aggro in a nightclub as the rest of them were.

It's interesting - as soon as you nail 'em to the wall with evidence, they suddenly lose interest in the conversation.

It's almost like they're bullshitting and they know it.

no...I dont..you see you didnt do a trump thing without mentioning a hillary thing, and even then intellectually dishonestly
your "things" are useless, just like in the past with your obama cancelling the 4th of july joke. AND you ignored the actual video of what clinton said in the video from 1994.
I actually dont agree with the schools policy, just not for the same reason you do.
I prefer to show you, that once again your ignorance, and that you are just as bad, with whinging and micro-agressions.

You? Going on about whining and micro aggressions when you come down on the side of those who embrace it? That's laughable. As for your boitching about my post about Trump, at least I can admit to changing my mind about his racism and do so openly. Still waiting for you to admit there might be something to all of the material against Hillary other than she's too far to the "right" for you.

Speaking of your leftist bent, is that why you disagree with the school's policies?

OP:

From the article you cited:

The backlash was exemplified recently in a widely publicized letter sent to new freshmen at the University of Chicago by the dean of students, John Ellison.

He warned that the university did not “support so-called trigger warnings, we do not cancel invited speakers because their topics might prove controversial, and we do not condone the creation of intellectual safe spaces where individuals can retreat from ideas and perspectives at odds with their own.”

I assume you are aware that after this letter was publicized, the Chicago Tribune found that John Ellison has been and is still currently providing one of those "safe spaces" for LGBT students.

I generally agree with the concepts expressed in Ellison's letter, but also find him to be a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to practicing what he is preaching.

Ah, I was an orientation leader when I was in college! And, I even led the diversity workshop in each session. (I don't remember what it was called - probably not "Diversity Workshop" - yawn.)

I think it's interesting to consider this: A good number of adults absolutely hate it when kids are protected from losing; when everybody gets a trophy; when kids are no longer allowed to defend themselves on grade school playgrounds. But then at what point during a young person's life does it become okay to need a safe space rather than learning to deal with life's slings and arrows? Or...is this the result of growing up in a school environment that rewards reporting bullying behavior? The kids who are encouraged to report bullying behavior are now growing up to be the young adults who require safe spaces?

And by the way, personally, I'm all for the anti-bullying efforts our schools have introduced the last decade or so. But still, it makes me wonder.

Two points to make. 1. That is the second Shakespeare reference I've made in these forums this week, thank you very much. 2. I see no reason why one can't learn about diversity and attend an ice cream social within the same orientation session. What screams diversity training more than having to socialize with those nutbags who put fruit on their sundaes? Weirdos.

I like this one...

Telling a nonwhite woman, “I would have never guessed that you were a scientist.”

I guess it's ok to imply women are too stupid to be scientists as long as they are white.
This is stupid on all accounts. Our stereotypical vision of scientists is that they're white, wear glasses and tend to be nerdy. Science as a discipline requires intense focus which tends to favour those people who lack social connections, who think esoteric scientific stuff is cool and whose ability to focus inevitably impacts their eyesight.

The fact that someone defies a stereotype is not an insult. And turning it into one is the kind of self-absorbed bullshit which denotes a self-obsessed individual. Anyone getting offended by this shit is a waste of space.

As much as people of the politically correct cut hate to fucking admit it, stereotypes have of had their basis in reality. And prejudice is OK, it is bigotry that is not. Prejudice is learned. Bigotry is taught, and it shouldn't be, but there is not shit you can do about prejudice. It can be against one family like "All their kids are like wild animals" and that applies to any race.

In the old days it was true for example that Blacks were more likely to be illiterate, uneducated and thus thieves because they had no other choice in many cases. Of course things have changed and some people hand on to those old notions, which is wrong.

But you would not believe some of the hell I have been through in life, in fact it might have driven you to suicide. I might tell you about it in a PM but since this forum can be read by non-members I would rather not put it out here. But if you want to know, OK. It was fucking bad. I survived but just barely. It was way worse than any discrimination could ever be.

Now, apparently they are trying to teach people to look for a lawsuit. Like "He said I'm fat" and shit like that. And I am supposed to look at a big Black guy with a baseball cap on the wrong way and think he is going to say "Have you any Grey Poupon ?" instead of "Yo, whassup ?". You know, that thing on the baseball cap is supposed to shield your eyes from bright sunlight, not your fucking neck. The fuck is wrong with you ? Now if you are White, and you have a sunburn on your neck that is a different story, but I haven't seen it that way. Ever.

Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But words will never hurt me

Whatever happened to that.

Politically correct motherfuckers don't even want you commenting on their green hair ? Those big ass implants in their ears, body modification ? Nose rings ? That is thousand year old Africa shit. Did you see the tattoo maps ? Areas of the body mapped and color coded and has correlations, like "Will never get a job" n shit. And people do this to themselves.

If you are born Black or whatever, that does not stop you from excelling. your background might, but the inherent race problem is pretty much gone. There are Black doctors and engineers, and if any Blacks feel opportunities are limited, welcome to the club. We Whites are not doing all that well either. The tables have turned, or more like, leveled. None of us are doing all that well.

And now, these colleges run by liberals, which by the way cannot put out a competent engineer, want to spawn a whole new set of lawsuits. And this based on supposed adults taking insults that we were expected to take when we were ten fucking years old ?

I hate to lay this on you but...

Because of my health and a few other things, and the state of the world getting so fucking ridiculous, I go to sleep wishing not to wake up. I want no part of this shit.

I am one of the few natural born troubleshooters, and that made me a decent living for a time. But I have wracked my brain trying to figure out how to solve these serious problems that society faces. I have even considered mass killing but even that won't work. It might but nobody is going to go for killing like 6.5 billion people, and of course picking and choosing who. And who chooses.

The only real solution is the last war. If you want it for your children vote Clinton. If you want it for your grandchildren vote Trump.

Nothing else will work. People will not stop fucking. People will not use rubbers, or whatever. Most broads figure they'll have la dolce vita with welfare and child support. No shit. they have been on TV here saying that.

And we are at about seven billion and counting. And two billion of them are total enemies of the US and about a quarter of them are willing to do something about it. Why the fuck does anyone take medications ? Die. You'll be much happier.

T^T

At a guess, the point at which a young person attains their legal age of majority, and can start suing people on their own initiative, rather than having their parents sue people for them. You live in a very litigatious society over there, don't you?

Oh, yes. "Sue them!" seems to be how people deal with disappointment.
