I used to be a pretty good speller but since reading male profiles and reading forums, I find that misspelled words are looking normal!

It is amazing how many people either failed spelling in grade school or did not learn their phonetics. It is not a big deal though. I know a lot of people that can not spell, but I can almost always get the gyst of what they are saying. To Me it is not worth making a scene over.

Since there is a difference in the spelling officially accepted in new Zealand, Australia and the USA as compared to that in the UK, and also seeing that there are a number of dyslexic folk here, Iam notsuprised about the spelling. Weekly I will get a message about some perceived spellingerror andin 99% of the cases my spelling in question is correct according to the Australian English setting I have in Word.. {Perhaps you needed to be more specific in your original post..) Of course I could post away with a standing disclaimer that I am writing in the style of English of the days of Chaucer (Prior to there being any standardised spelling)

julia, it's obvious that your radical leftist leanings are blinding you to the fact that overuse of the letter u in English spelling (colour, flavour, etc) is the ancient and correct way to spell gooder than anyone else. [sm=hewah.gif]

This has nothing to do with spelling, but it reminded me of what my dad used to say.... I'm a fart smeller, I mean, a smart feller. Sorry, back to the spelling thing.....my dad is goofy..lol

Spelling errors aren't the problem for me.... my typing on the other hand, doth sometimes sucketh.

To be perfectly honest... I prefer the spelling errors over the 99 comments following the spelling error pointing out the spelling error. I mean people...unless it truly changes the potential message - must we be so anal? Save the anal for where it belongs...<WG>

I've worked as a teacher aide, so I'm usually able to decipher what the misspelled word is supposed to be! [:D] Master has trouble with spelling - sometimes a word will look wrong when it is right, and right when it is wrong. I suspect a mild learning disability is to blame, and also a slight lack of formal education, but He has me for His spellchecker if needed [:)]

i'm usually able to decipher misspelled words. but they annoy the bejeezus out of me. seriously. there are a few words whose spellings i sometimes have to look up - mainly because i see them misspelled so often that the spelling in my mind becomes ambiguous. and i don't consider linguistic differences in english based on country to be misspelling ;) in fact, i firmly believed (and still do) that endeavor should be spelled endeavour and gray should be spelled grey, despite whatever my english teachers in grade and high school thought.

I admit I can't stand to get an e-mail full of spelling errors. My dad has been a journalist/editor for my entire life, and language was pounded into my head from birth, whether I liked it, or not. Spell check is available to anyone, so I consider a message full of misspellings of common words to mean someone is either not too bright, or very lazy, but if someone doesn't care to bother, then I usually just bypass what they have said, and read those who made an effort. However, I am a sucker for those who are British... so words like colour are worth extra points.

I'm a (male) sub and a Domme that corresponds with me who can't carry a sentence...(doesn't know when I use ellipsis too often), doesn't know proper grammar (and can't spell "gramer"), holds me in abeyance because...well...it freaks me out. (And my Mom, who's brilliant, couldn't carry an IM for 3 seconds....but I can't handle errant conversation). (And I HATE British accents).
