Uh, Gary, you'll do far better if you avoid the term "trannies". In my experience, calling them transwomen or MtFs is far better, although many of them will be leery of chasers.
Here's a brief summary (and if someone with more insight chooses to correct me, please do).
A CD is nothing more than a man who gets a sexual thrill out of dressing in women's clothing. Afterwards, he takes the clothes off, anD that's that.
A TG is someone who either has or had what's called gender dysphoria. They were born with the body of a male but the mind of a woman (I'm writing this about MtFs. For FtMs, just reverse all genders). Treating this as a mental condition failed pretty badly, so the course of treatment now is to treat this as a physical issue, and to change the body. This is done via hormone treatment, and sometimes surgery. MtFs that have had sexual reassignment surgery are called post-op, and those who have not are referred to as pre-op, although I've also heard of some who never intend to get the surgery referred to as non-op.
Please note that transgenders have paid a lot of money, lost a lot of family and friends, and put themselves into a very vulnerable place in order to become female physically. For the ones I've known, it's extremely important to them to simply be female. Not with an asterisk. That means that the absolute last thing that a pre-op would want to focus on is their penis, and the men who do, are referred to as chasers. I've been in relationships with an MtF myself, and naturally considered her as female with no asterisks involved unless it was in the bedroom, and that went over very well and helped her out mentally as well.
