and again, not forgetting 'The Urban Spaceman", by the Bonzo Dog Doodah Band ( from slough no less).....................and if you see the clip of Mouldy Old Dough being played at Top of the Pops, have a look at how badly it's synched and the vacant looks on the kids faces there *smile*. The lights may be on but there is certainly nobody home. I wonder where they all are now ???

Funny that you use the descriptive for stratagem of silently mouthing to recording as being "synched", since the term 'lip-synched" was used in the US vs. "mimed" in Britain.

I've used both over the years. As long as it's understood, what I mean, I guess it really doesn't matter, does it ?

OH my God - no one has mentioned Eric Clapton.....

and the Moody Blues

and all of Elton Johns Good-bye Yellow Brick Road

the Who - Behind Blue Eyes

edited to add - Supertramp and 10cc

and even though it isn't fashionable, I really loved John Denver....

In an effort to "defend" myself: I have always considered Eric Clapton and The Who to be 60s bands, much more so than 70s. So, I didn't "leave them out" for musical integrity; it was for having already been "established" by 1970 (I cite Cream and Tommy).

I had no intention to insult you earlier, Michael, sorry if that's how it came across.

I was pulled in so many different directions musically when I was young, I kept moving on to one thing from the next. No one who bought a Grand Funk album could proclaim any title to superior musical taste or anything of the sort, safe to say.

At some point, I just decided that I didn't want to play Rock and Roll anymore, and some Aerosmith song happened to be what my band was working on at the time. It had nothing in particular to do with that song or that band. I had a lot of fun with it, then I was done.

But I did include the all-time classic from KISS in my 6th post, and I wish youtube could better convey what these songs sounded like on the juke box. I think the last of them still had tube amps, and the great big output transformers.

So here are three classic juke box greats from the era, all from those ancient tube amps, when we heard them;

Deep Purple- Black Night

KISS- I Want to Rock And Roll All Night

Aerosmith- Walk This Way

(I searched sources from vinyl for a reason, folks)

Some of us who grew up in the 70s considered what played on the radio to be pre-digested pablum

Now some songs get your feet tapping while being the epitome of what the bland music of the disco was.

And the 70s gave us a song that is in the top ten all time worst songs...

Ooooo - Simon and Garfunkel.........

There was so much good music in the '70's - and for some reason Pink Floyd doesn't feel '70's...................... must be timeless.
