With the myriad of events and venues in the Los Angeles community there is no reason to rely on a website to meet people. Welcome to the forums.

There are many events. I am at going to at least 3 this week including one tonight. I am lucky. But sometimes it's also nice to meet people online since not everyone can go to the events and munches.
