The pure fact is that the end result of unregulated capitalism, will be slavery... Full stop!

Why pay for what you can just take by force... And when you have a collective monopoly, who says you cant charge 110% of what they can afford, and just have them mortgage themselves into slavery...

Free market, only exists while there is freedom on both sides of the supply and demand...

We are damnear there. Look at the labor market. I am told by someone who applied for a job at McDonald's that Phds were applying for jobs there, so don't get your hopes up. But then many places won't hire people who are too overqualified because right when they get used to the job they get a better job and you have to start fresh with a new hire.

Government is no help. The ACA is a big big problem. Most younger people simply do not need health insurance and they got Men covered for maternity care, if I get pregnant it will make the news guaranteed. Ill written and not carefully considered it will reduce "full time" in this country to 28 hours a week, even if the minimum wage id $15 an hour do the math. Talk about irresponsible, not only is the government losing a shit ton of money because they have to give subsidies to people making $70,000 a year, now the insurance companies are losing money and backing out, which means less competition. Also, that cap of 20 % profit ? Oil companies would suck a mile of donkey dick to make 20 %. The government makes more on a gallon of gas than the oil company.

A minimum wage job at 28 hours a week is $420. First of all they take taxes out so you take home more like $300, so let's figure $1200 per month. In this severely economically depressed town (Cleveland, OH) you just about can't rent anywhere for less than $600 a month. Electric and gas might only be $100. You gross over the limit for food stamps so there is maybe $150 a month. Want a car ? Save up a couple grad to buy anything decent (but how do you get to work ? A monthly bus pass is $85 right now but the buses do not go everywhere anymore) or you have a car payment. That means you must have full coverage on the car which in Cleveland proper will cost you more because of the higher crime rate. So you're looking at $300 a month for that, not including gasoline, tires and repairs. And then you are required to have health insurance which is going to be at least $300 a month. To even get a job you need a phone, preferably a cellphone which is at the very least $20 a month. And to go to a job interview you have to be dressed fairly well so you need to have decent clothes.

In that situation YOU ARE A SLAVE.

Right now I am just trying to fade away because I am sick of this planet, but in the old days I did not experience this. I got a taste of it now though. I could get a job I had skills. Well I still have them but my eyesight has gone to shit and my skills are no longer as marketable as they once were. Now I see how it was for others, and I can see why some turned to dealing or stealing or even worse, the military.

My skillset is pretty good. If I could see well I could build you a house but I would job out the cement work and the roof, though I would do the framing. I would do all the plumbing and the HVAC system including the ductwork. I could fix and soup up your car. I made a ton of money fixing bigscreen TVs for people who built a $50,000 addition on their house for a home theater. And I have paid alot in taxes. Though i have been shacked up at times I never got married so I always filed single. I see these motherfuckers with five kids getting income tax refunds you could almost buy a house with but they kept my money. And in property taxes I had to pay for their kids to go to school.

And now I can't really work, I do a few side jobs because my eyes need about a hundred grand worth or work to even get the to the point where I can drive, or even ride a bicycle. Know what they got for me ? NOTHING. But they will take in refugees and give them an apartment and all this shit and a monthly stipend, and they never paid in a fucking dime.

I tell you this, it is great that they are wasting me. They say this is "elective". So fukum. Let them have their huddled masses. POersonally (and i am not alone on this) I think they should tear down the statue of liberty and put up a sign "SEND US YOUR ENGINEERS, YOUR HARD WORKING PEOPLE WHO WILL BE LOYAL TO THIS COUNTRY WHICH ACCEPTS THEM. PEOPLE WHO WILL LEARN THE LANGUAGE AND OBEY OUR LAWS AND RESPECT OTHERS".

Those huddled masses are huddled masses for a reason. That is that they fucked up the country they were in, or let it happen. You want that here ? Unskilled human trash who need to have telephone menus in their language because they refuse to learn American English ? How much special treatment do we owe them because they are a minority ?

I say NONE.

Because of my job I met quite a few European immigrants. The fact is they don't know how to teach it here and I got around because I was damn good. Some companies hired immigrants who brought their skills with them. More skilled than the locals as far as I could tell. The ones with skills actually considered going back. i said go ahead because it would just enhance my earning power.

Guy from Russia, "What is fishing license ?". He tells me your don't need one there, and he left during the Soviet days. Also, you qualify once with a rifle and your hunting license is good for life, not like having to pay the state of Montana $900 a year or whatever it is. Who the fuck gave them the right to make you bribe the to hunt or fish on public property ? this is the crux of the matter with the uch villified Cliven bundy, who is RIGHT and the government is WRONG. But people are brainwashed into thinking the government owns every blade of grass.

Free country my ass. In fact I haven't heard anyone say that in a long time. Back in the 1960s and 1970s people said oit all the time. Like their kids who were grown up wanted to do something, perhaps they didn't approve, but would say "Well, it's a free country". I haven't heard anyone say that in decades and I think i know why.

True conservatives want to see it like it was in the 1970s or so, but of course that wasn't even free. Take those days and remove the racism and ridiculous drug laws and we could be close. None of this politically correct shit. You got a bully on the playground fucking with you, tell Dad (remember Dads ?) and you learn to pick up a fucking rock and smash that motherfuckers face in with it. Either that or you get together with the other kids he is bullying in and put him in the hospital just keep on kicking until blood comes out his mouth. He won't be a bully anymore.

But now they kill themselves over Facebook posts. Jesus Fucking Christ.

But things were not perfect then either. I remember some kid who was told at school to report their Parents for smoking pot and she did. So the Parents got arrested and she was crying because she went to a foster home.

Fact is, things were never all that great, and we thought they couldn't get much worse, but they did.

How about you investigate the capitalist systems in Germany or Norway or Denmark or Sweden et al. if you want to make pretense of having a clue?

OTOH, you are welcome to allude to any communist-run country that has done better than them.

I must be missing your point if you have one.

I certainly did, sorry that both you and Dizzy missed it.

You yourself said that better regulation is what allowed capitalist systems to work better, Dizzy wanted to get all silly about semantics under the
notion that the poli sci department at the uni she went to holds sway over the accounting or economics or law departments in all such matters.

Let her have it. Who cares?

If a company sells bonds or shares of stock to finance their business operations, -then it is a capitalist undertaking-.

If the country they operate in happens to have better regulations, a better healthcare system, better educational system, etc, then so be it.

If you somehow are thinking that I am now or at any other time arguing for some notion of "über Kapitalismus," then you need either more coffee or more beer.

As a barmaid, my professional opinion is for coffee, it has a MUCH higher profit margin

I'm delving into whether you mean that as a commie or just as a smiling independent contractor.

Actually as a new Mom who never gets enough sleep...coffee is GOD!

Edwird -> RE: How irresponsible is this. (9/14/2016 9:18:16 PM)

Tea is good, too.

I throw some crushed peppermint leaves, dandelion root, sliced ginger, Yerba Mate, Chamomile, and whatever else into the coffee screen. Brew it like coffee.

You can't tell I'm seriously ADD, can you?

And yes, even a half cup of coffee after that.

I understand, in your situation, that coffee is god.

But get you acquainted also with tea, the goddess.

Termyn8or -> RE: How irresponsible is this. (9/14/2016 9:23:08 PM)

Most people who drink coffee are ADD until they drink coffee. (have we a possible cure here ?) It took me years to get used to not drinking it. Took about a year to get used to not smoking cigarettes. The coffee actually took longer.

Edwird -> RE: How irresponsible is this. (9/14/2016 9:30:16 PM)

Plain old Jasmine tea, all by itself, is pretty good too.

If someone like me has the will power to avoid throwing anything else into it, you can do it too.

Greta75 -> RE: How irresponsible is this. (9/14/2016 9:31:54 PM)

Funny thing is. Coffee makes me sleep. But Green Tea can keep up all night!

I think it's "instructive" to go with out something or another for a year or longer, sometimes.

I went with out coffee for the same ten years I went with out meat or beer or cigarettes.

So I got back to coffee a little bit, and meat when somebody else cooks it or when dining out 3-4 times a year.

I don't know if this is sold in your country or not, but this thing is great; 5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan).

It's just a derivative of the amino acid tryptophan, something we eat everyday in one form or another. It doesn't -make- you sleepy, it just allows you to sleep when the time comes. I do without it 1-3 days a week, so the body doesn't build up tolerance for it. Lay off it ~2 weeks a couple of times a year for same purpose. I don't notice any obvious difference, because I think the body/mind is in the habit of the same routine that the 5-HTP has gotten it into. I take one in the morning and one with or after dinner, never feeling any noticeable effect.

I was a serious insomniac from age 8 onwards, and thanks to a seriously effed up US medical system I didn't come upon this very workable solution until I was in mid-40s. Had to do the research on my own to find it.

But it's all good now.
