ORIGINAL: DarknessStalks I have no doubt that Aliens exist. It is a mathematical certainty. I would be pleasently surprised if when they reach Enceladus (scheduled to have instruments there in 2020), they find some form of life. I would be disappointed if they didn't. It appears the cosmos for some reason created amino acids. We find them in both comets and asteroids. So it suggests they at one time were being made and are common place. Perhaps it is something that happens in the vaccuum of space easily and not so much here on Earth, perhaps our star system was seeded by aliens 4.5 Billion years ago ... like in Star Trek ... S.E.T.I. is so much science for science sake, rather than a truly concerted effort. Yes they listen to thousands of channels of Microwave emissions (the kind not produced by most celestial processes) thinking they just might find someone. However the search is nearly pointless. Let's do a thought experienment shall we? Assume there are Aliens, and the galaxies team with life (not a truly outrageous supposition). Assume for one moment in time, however briefly there arrises another intelligent speicies other than those handful of sentient ones here on Earth (dolphins, squids, crows, elephatns ... pesky humans ... et.al.) Assume they are technologically advanced ... none of this is implausible. That these intelligent speicies are using a communications form we can intercept, and even interpret ... They would have to be using this technology within a radius of 50 light years, withing the past fifty years. It's much more likely any advanced civilization would either have advanced beyond using such technologies or be further away than we can connect with. You'd essentially have to find another planet at the same stage of technological development as we are, within our local area (say 100 light years) for us to detect them within the next 50 years. An outrageous proposition at best. "We lack the imagination to understand that which we have no concieved." Yes there are Aliens, yes it is likely empires of little green men have risen and fallen somewhere else in the Universe in its 13.8 billion year history. It is unlikely we will be chatting with them any time soon, as a civilization to civilization. As for faster than light travel, I think it certainly is possible, even plausible with our current understanding of physics (provided the Zero point energy camp is right). We know space can be warped, we know you can produce energy easily in high concentrations, perhaps even high enough to warp space. It just has to be developed. If Aliens came to Earth tomorrow and said we've been watching you and learned your language from your internet, we're screwed though. Because they'd be racist nazi's from planet X. No, they would be from Zargon (Zargonians) and they'd tell us to stop killing each other over resources or gods and using the planet as a commercial toilet that we soon will no longer be able to 'flush' and if we don't...they will come down, wipe out half of us and enslave the other half. According the the Russian secret book of space, there are over 80 species in the Milky Way and Andromeda, some of which have been around for 4 billion years, want to take over, or are protecting us and have been at war with others and for billions of years and have been visiting earth and abducting humans for millennia.
