is it just plain jealousy or simple hatred of civilized countries, that terrorists arrive.

Two points

1) We do not know if it was connected to an international terrorist organization

2) Putting the device in a dumpster pretty much minimized the total injuries, considering the footage available, if the goal was to maximize damage, the person setting the device was a complete moron. \

3) Considering the proximity of the neighborhood to the empire state building, picking that area as a target makes zero sense.

My personal opinion, it was domestic, and considering the demographics of the neighborhood, may have been homophobic in nature.

They just liked making things go BOOM in the night.

Turns out it was in a plastic garbae can, not a dumpster.
The was supposed to be a 5k charity run going past at the time of the blast but the start was delayed.
Looks more like an attempt to repeat the Boston Marathon.
Also the authorities seem to think that both the NYC and the NJ bombs came from the same source.

Turns out that the 5k run in was in NJ.
In NY he wounded 29 with the bomb, in NJ he shot one cop, but fortunatly didn't kill him.

The alledged terrorist is in custody.
