Okay, so while the Conservatives are screaming about how liberals want to step all over the bill of rights, end some of our constitutional rights, we have Trump saying we need to start using profiling to deal with domestic terrorism.

So, forget "innocent until proven guilty" and substitute "guilty until proven innocent."

When did "Muslim" become a race?

If profiling includes (but is not limited to) race, is that really a bad thing? If radicalized Islamists are forming terror cells, are you really going to keep a keen eye on Catholic churches for signs of radical Islamists? Are you going to go into a synagogue to make sure there isn't radicalization of Islamists going on?

If there is solid intel pointng to radicalized Islamists in an area plotting an 'event,' I think it's prudent for law enforcement to have a heightened awareness of that and take appropriate action to prevent the event.

Just saying that Muslims or radicalized Islamists conduct most terror attacks isn't solid intel about locals planning an event. It's not carte blanche to increase surveillance, have round ups, or "stop and frisk" anyone.

But, if you take a poll on here, jlf, I'm willing to bet that most of those of us who self-identify as 'conservative' don't support Trump as much as you seem to be implying.

There was a TV sportscaster fellow ("Jimmy The Greek") who....back in the early 80's (once he said this publicly) was eviscerated by the popular press and within weeks, fired by his broadcasting agency...(back then it was CBS/NBC or ABC) because he said something "crazy" (or something like this....it was a while ago)...."Black men are genetically predisposed to be great athletes....the evidence is in their disproportionate percentages in the NBA and NFL".

He was quickly excoriated...and subsequently....fired.

Dominos Pizza was equally excoriated (in the early 1990's) for using what is now (and then) called "profiling". By computer (crime) analysis.They plugged in where crime happens, when and at what time and they said..."These are bad areas!!!...We shouldn't do business there!!!"

They used computer modeled produced maps that showed a) greater crime occurs (in"these areas") after "xyz" (evenings) and b) greater crime occurs in "these" zip codes and "we will no longer serve these zip code areas after ("time"/evenings) because...."our drivers are being ripped off X to 1 (something far greater than lower crime areas)...and they could LITERALLY map out WHEN (and where) crime would occur....statistically.....accurately....every time.

Now....it doesn't take a brain surgeon to determine....if....black males make up 31% of the NBA (then) and well over 60% of the NFL today (when they are far fewer than 12% of the current population mix of males in the United States).....there's (clearly) a story there.

(Color me a racist).

Of course, after the press excoriation, Domino's reversed course and began again delivering to those crime ridden areas (paying their drivers "combat pay" to do so).

Interestingly enough....after Jimmy the Greek was let go....and Domino's fell to PC....the Los Angeles Police department (among hundreds of other Police agencies across the nation) now use sophisticated software to determine where crime is most likely going to be committed and.....within minutes and...BY ZIP CODE....

And.....it is spot on.

Is profiling right?

I'm not that smart but....if a neighborhood....an area....is predisposed....regardless of color......if statistically it can be shown that "in THIS exact spot....within 3 - 6 blocks of THIS apex....crime will begin at____ and (largely) end at ____"....I'm kinda thinking....there's something to be said about folks who live in those areas and what they think, do....and will likely do.

And when.

Statistically.

If you have an employee who is almost always late 7 days out of 10.....statistically....what do you think the likelihood is that.....over a 100 day period he will be late?

1 day?

12?

23?

My vote is on 70 days.

As to Jimmy The Greek...he wasn't racist....he was just commenting on known (statistical) facts.

(Maybe in our PC world we should be DEMANDING that the NFL gives some kind of point benefit to white players....or...we could also all....just accept that some folks have a genetic gift....but....that ain't for me to play out....because I've already....by writing this....insured hate mail).

To me, if my own race are bombing people. I want to make sure the ones who are doing it are stopped!

You can profile people who have certain bumper stickers on their car, like supporting the second amendment or Constitution. In fact mention the Constitution during a traffic stop and you go on a list. Try a Confederate flag in fact, see where that gets you. Or a copy or The Turner Diaries. Or an NRA bumper sticker or if stopped even a copy of their newsletter. And that is even though alot of cops are in the NRA, orders is orders. You go on the list and it shows up on their screen immediately if they get behind you because they have cameras that read your plate ad they have your whole situation, even record at their fingertips.

If they can profile us, they can profile them.

Here's another one, put a Masonic Lodge emblem on your car and you are profiled, but in a slightly different way. You ain't getting stopped unless they see gunfire coming out the window. And if you do, they are very unlikely to even search your car, let alone arrest you.

That is also profiling. Just like affirmative action is still bigotry. It either works both ways or it doesn't and if it doesn't get ready for the White Man. Equal rights fine, special rights no. And you ain't got enough jails to hold us nor enough cops to bust us. You might want to take that into consideration.

Here's a fact for you. The United Nations Security Council voted unanimously 13 - 0 that Sadam Hussain had weapons of mass destruction. President Bush was the only one serious enough to do anything about it.

Actually, the 'weapons of mass destruction' that the UN unanimously agreed that he had was also noted to be inert in the same damn vote.

The stuff that was found had zero weapon potential (unless the round dropped on your head) because it had been improperly stored and the mixture had become useless.

The chemical weapon production facilities had been hit in the first gulf war and never rebuilt, so they were out of action.

And the entire mess was created by a previous GOP administration because Iraq was at war with Iran, and guess who's administration that was?

Saint Ronald, the patron saint of the GOP.

Of course, the fact that every reason George gave to justify invading Iraq turned out to be a bold faced lie is beside the point.

It does not matter that he fired every general who told him we did not have the assets to fight a two theater war, and the only way that the US pulled it off was to shorten the time between combat tours which lead to a much higher ptsd rate, high suicide rate among active and former combat troops which is no big deal because the VA does not have to spend money treating a soldier who blows his own brains out.

Nor does it matter that every fucking adviser with an ounce of common sense pointed out that no army that had ever invaded Afghanistan actually accomplished anything.

Every military adviser told him that surgical strikes against terrorist training camps and Taliban infrastructure was the smart move.

He ignored them, which leads us to the Bush Iraq/Afghanistan war legacy.

International
1) The Iraq/Syria area so destabilized that ISIS was actually able to gain a following.
2) Iraq so blasted (with the US failing to rebuild as promised) so the people that were not supporters of radical Islam became supporters
3) Taking out a dictator that was so paranoid that he had every person remotely connected to Al Qaeda executed, which of course meant with him gone, Al Qaeda could actually grow in the region.

Domestic
1) A suicide rate among combat vets of 22 per day, or about 4 times the rate of suicide among Vietnam combat vets.
2) A half trillion dollar debt to China for loans that paid for the war

And the GOP blames Obama for ISIS?

The only thing that Obama can be blamed for is not saying fuck it and carpet bombing every place that ISIS has a fucking foothold. Hell we already have half the Muslims in the region blaming the US for everything, so what the fuck do we have to lose?
