ORIGINAL: jlf1961 A few points to consider on the topic of 'intellectual discourse." 1) Anything that starts as 'intellectual discourse' on these boards usually end in exchanges of insults. 2) It is impossible to have an intellectual exchange with civilized people when you are a uncivilized barbarian from 'the colonies.' (although the great state of Texas was never a crown colony of Great Britain and never had any oath of allegiance to king George)\ 3) It is impossible to have any kind of intellectual anything with people who drive on the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD. And those are just the top 3 reasons. There are others involving cricket, the claim that Scotch is a British drink (if it was, it would be called Brit, or English Whiskey or something like Spotted dick.) OI! Shut it you. I'm drinking Sloe Vodka tonight that I kinda made myself ... in that I didn't distill the Vodka, but I did the rest of it ... instead of Scotch, which I'm happy to concede is Scottish, or Irish rather than British. However, We have Gin, and after a liter of that I have either been very happy, or very sad Needles Irish whiskey tastes nothing like Scotch, or anything British, and as far as gin is concerned, never liked the stuff. As for sloe vodka, I actually prefer fast drinks, like fast cars, but not fast women (harder to catch for this old geezer critter.) Agreed that the two taste nothing alike. I'm not a fan of Irish Whisky as a rule. Gin is something I have drank on rare occasions with extra dry vermouth in an effort to get drunk. It didn't work, regardless of the fact of how much was consumed, and other liquids that joined it. It must be 15 years since my last attempt. I admitted defeat, and that it was just a waste of money trying to do something that everyone else complained about the day after Fast cars ... now we're talking Needles
