I'm an old geezeer now. But I was a personal servant for several men. I'm not into rough stuff, but orders are orders. You exist for his pleasure. I couldn't have been at his beck and call, if I didn't love him. My service was an expression of love. I'm not sure this applies to the more violent aspects of slavery/servitude, or does it?

Good question. I do not think love must exist in bdsm or service for many. For me it would if I was devoting myself to someone as more than an occasional play partner, but I've heard many say love isn't a prerequisite for sincere service and certainly not for the receipt of some very intense and extreme pain.

Depends on the people involved.

Personally for me, there needs to affection with the possibility of love.
But, I have known others that have not had it and a few that prefer not to have it.
