Well that was a social dagger and did get votes but conservatism began its slow death as being a political philosophy without ideology, when the movement so-called, resisted the regulation of business greed and sold out by never reassigning [it] personal liability among many other regulations upon the business world. I do think as much as anything, becoming corporatists and rent-seeking plutocrats is the single greatest decay of America's original founding conservatism.
Now it's propaganda has actually taken root in how to assert in any way that the corporation in exchange for all of the corrupt benefits bestowed upon it by the courts and govt. and that it need no longer serve society as [it[ did from the 1500's to the mid 1800's and that to do so at all, is socialism...is unmitigated bullshit.
Conservatism now only selectively in its political and economic interests refers to Locke, Hobbes and Hamilton's rather than Madison's contribution to the Federalist papers and all of the original European intellectuals of the 17th and 18th centuries and leaves out the corrupting influence that in modern time...began with the East India Co.
