I have two. The first dog I ever owned, got her when I was 9. Her name is Jasmine and she's a mutt. 17 years old and still going, she's survived two other dogs and is now living with the "next generation". The second I have is a long haired Chihuahua named Kira, who's not even a year old yet. I love them both quite a bit and each are pampered in their own ways. I just couldn't live without a dog in my house, they're like part of the family!

When we moved here from New Hampshire two years ago this Sept I had a friend driving a moving truck behind me and I had a big pick-up truck with a sun roof in it.
I kept Bubba in the truck the whole time (2 days) during the move because I didn't want to lose him.
The first day he pretty much stayed in the back seat floor. On the second day he was up on the console beside me and he liked to get on his hind legs and put his head up through the sunroof and let the wind blow through his hair and look around at the scenery and other cars.
Somewhere in Virginia a car with a bunch of U.M's in it passed us and the U.M's laughed their asses off when they saw Bubba's head popped up through the sunroof!

Same here with my cats. I always find it kinda eery when I visit homes that don't have pets. It seems a little empty, to me.

I have 2 female calico short hairs....My oldest is Maggie which is 14 years old and of course the youngest at 1 year old is Bella aka Pod Child. Plus I then have 2 female dogs. The oldest is a mix named Taco which is 14 years old also that loves to lick walls. My youngest is a Min Pin named Lady aka Meatloaf.

Each of the girls have their own personality and I don't want to even think about being without them.

Thanks for all your replies!
I just find it interesting what pets people have and what names they give them.
Once Bubba was gone for 6 days! I don't know where he went but I looked *everywhere* for him, the pound about 20 miles away, ALL over the neighborhood numerous times!
One night I was sitting here at the computer and I heard him meowing at the back door!
I was actually depressed thinking something bad had happened to him.

Great name!

Myself, I have two females kitties.  Misty is a small, very sweet solid black kitty with big golden eyes.  Lily is half-Siamese.  She is average-sized, brown and white, with cute little white socks on her front two feet, a white chest,  and green eyes.  She is sweet also, but has a devilish streak.  She also loves to fetch.

I have two spoiled and strictly indoor (except for our third story porch) cats.  They are kept inside for their health and safety as well as the continued health and safety of the ecosystem.    Domestic cats are considered an exotic species in the wild because their ancestors hail from Africa and Europe, not North America.

Tinker -- My 4 year old little sweetheart.  I met her when she was a 3 month old stray.  She was brought into the vet office I was working at, and no one cared for her (IMO that vet is a money grabbing, uncaring jackass).  She was afraid and hissing at everyone.  So I braved her noise, picked her up, and cuddled her.  We've never been apart since.  Her name is derived from the funny hobbling gait she had when I first met her.  She moved like a little old man. I suspect someone threw her out of a moving vehicle so that her hips were hurt and her front paw pads scraped up.  Both of these injuries healed up over time with care.  She is a silver tabby with white toes on all four paws, and a white patch on her chest.  Adorable!

Diego -- Not yet 2 year old male tabby.  We picked him up from a local shelter to be company for Tink.  He can be a real pain in the ass when he wants to be, yet he's become a momma's boy at heart.  He harrasses Tinker far more than I'd like.  I let Pup pick him out, and even though we love him, he can be a trial.  Pup says he will defer to my ability to sense good pet personalities from now on.  Still, Diego isn't a bad little guy in his own way.  We do love him.  Talks up a storm.  Comes when I call, whistle, or snap my fingers.  At least he's stopped skinny-dipping in the toilet.  He's more like a dog than a cat sometimes.  Rancid breath.

Both cats jockey for possession of my legs when it's bedtime.  They're both pretty attached to me, but I've always been like that with animals.  I couldn't imagine living without cats as members of my household.  They are like my little furry kids.  Someone said earlier that they'd be heartbroken if someone hurt their pets.  So would I -- but I'd probably end up in jail for killing the bastard who did the deed.  I'd fight tooth and nail for either of them.

We have two matching kitty cats, Nimue and Luna and a tank full of fishies (2 gold gouramis, 3 tiger barbs, 3 albino corries, and 2 zebra danios)

Luna I adopted from the pound right before my sophomore year of college. She's black and shorthaired and pretty anti-social. She loves my Owner best.

Nimue we got probably 1/2 way through sophomore year. She's almost exactly 1 year younger than Luna and is black and long haired. Nimue's mom abandnoned her little, so I bottle raised her. She's my baby.

And they both had to get vaccines today, which they didn't like. Normally Nimue's the laid-back one, but for some reason she flipped out today, so my left hand is scratched all to hell :(

Zumala, LOL@ "Rancid Breath"!
Sometimes when Bubba snuggles up to me on the bed he'll burp and YUCK!!!! Man, does his breath stink!
And I feed him good too, he gets "IAM's" the Vet said it's good for his teeth and it has all the vitamins and minerals he needs. I give him tuna fish when I make it for myself too.
He hears (smells) the can opening and always comes out from wherever he is for his "share."
You're right about that, people REALLY DO get attached to their pets!

I have an OLD doberman, who doesnt know he isnt a puppy. His name is Caesar.  At nearly 15 years old, he still tears around the back yard playing with the boxer pup from next door, still loves to go to the park and get pet by all the neighborhood kids, and hasnt quite figured out he isnt supposed to jump on the couch for a nap when the humans arent home.

I have two cats Kitsune and Fudoki. These are Japanese names. Kitsune means Fox-woman or a half demon/human (sort of a changling). And Fudoki means.. hm. its hard to explain. Someone's home, their family/friends... where they come from.. their path in life... what makes them who they are and tied to their world.

Kitsune is a dark tortoise shell with short hair and Fudoki is a beige-y blonde with little fluffy white paws and chest and belly with long hair.

They are the little Mistresses of the home and basically do and go as they please.

I also have two dogs at home in Missouri with my father. Duchess is half Golden Lab and half Pit mix. Raya is part Rott, Pit, and Doberman.

One time when I lived in New Hampshire I left my violin in the case overnight without closing and locking it.
The next morning I came out and the strings were all over the table!
Bubba tore them to shit!
Anyone want a cat who plays the fiddle?
