I dont understand his gambit...apart from the fact he is a raving nutcase. A dangerous one. I increasingly feel like I'm watching someone disintegrate on national television. That's because you are someone disintegrate on national television. Trump's resorting to conspiracy theories, all too obvious lies (eg his claim that he won "every poll" after the second debate) his flat denials of the allegations of up to a dozen women and attribution of malicious motives to them, his suggestion that Hillary is on performance enhancing drugs, his crazed insistence that he is leading the polls and that the "Establishment" is out to get him and so on all speak to a personality disintegrating under the pressure of losing the election. That he is losing, that he might be rejected by the American people, that he isn't the "loudest biggest and best", that he is in fact pushed into second place by a mere woman are all unacceptable to his ego and persona - they disrupt his narcissistic delusions of grandiosity and triumph. He just cannot handle them and so retreats into a fantasy world where none of these things are happening. It's both sad and pleasurable (schadenfreude) to watch. Part of me feels some compassion for him as he falls apart, as I would for anyone but most of me feels it couldn't happen to a more deserving case.
