How does one go about proving you are an amerikan citizen? How does the footprint on your birth certificate prove that you and that tiny foot print are the same person? A passport relies on a birth certificate so it suffers from the same issue. The new "real id" requires a birth certificate so it suffers from the same issue. Naturalized citizens can prove citizenship because their paperwork validates who they are but their citizenship begins with naturalization and not birth. Those with a top secret clearence can prove citizenship because they have been thoroughly veted from their birth to the time of the issueance of their clearence but that is a lengthy and expensive process. So the question remains how does a member of the general public prove they are a citizen?
