hot4bondage -> Al Smith Dinner (10/21/2016 8:01:15 AM)

Thought someone ought to start a thread on the bonus shit show. More boos than the debates? Trump had the crowd until he said "Hillary is sooooo corrupt..." lol Doesn't anyone remember Johnny Carson?

Other random thoughts: Hillary absolutely skewered Rudy Guiliani and he DID NOT seem amused. Priceless. Would've loved to hear her off-mic post-show chats with Schumer and Kissinger. A bad lip-read might be fun, too. And Maria Bartiromo just about stole the show without saying a word. Seriously, so looked so beautiful...I bet a lot of people that don't give a damn about politics are gonna watch this just to see her.

I am glad you posted this. I had watched it earlier and I find your comments mirror my own thoughts. It was supposed to be a roast but I think trump failed to understand the difference between a roast and a campagn speech.

Wayward5oul -> RE: Al Smith Dinner (10/21/2016 8:45:55 AM)

It is reportedly the very first time that anyone has been booed at that event.

At least 5 separate occasions during the speech the audience booed. And still he went on.

Lucylastic -> RE: Al Smith Dinner (10/21/2016 9:30:09 AM)

I watched both speeches live, I missed the stuff before and after.
His best bit was about melania and her speech.
Clinton got him back, but good and I loved her ripping on ghouliani. that guy is now a gibbering wreck and needs and an "I love me jacket"
Hasnt anyone told the trump that body language gives him away every time?

I havent checked twitter yet, has he stated he wont the dinner, like he has done with all the debates?????

The chick with the breasts in the red dress???
Oh and the tacky dangly earrings? (im not liking those, but
Yes she looked stunning, I almost went crazy over her white gloves.

mnottertail -> RE: Al Smith Dinner (10/21/2016 9:50:55 AM)

I wonder why she kept popping on her glasses and reading something in front of her, was she given the jokes ahead of time?

Wayward5oul -> RE: Al Smith Dinner (10/21/2016 10:02:36 AM)

He actually started out pretty well. The "Pardon me" bit got a big laugh from Clinton. Of course she was still laughing when the audience laughter started crossing over into less appreciative noises.

Its funny to watch the expressions of the people seated around him during the speech.

And the line about Hillary not having as much fun as everyone else, while they are booing him. You can't make that shit up.

ThatDizzyChick -> RE: Al Smith Dinner (10/21/2016 11:22:28 AM)

However he did go off his speech at one point and comment how corny the jokes were.

Before was just introductions as everyone was being seated. ...The head of Verizon got more applause than several others. Why? I have no idea. After was a conspiracy theorist's wet dream. An animated chat between Hills and Schumer, with lots of pointing in different directions. Then Kissinger finally ambled over and she held court with him and a couple other old white guys. Toward the end of the chat she put her hand on her hip cowgirl style as if to say she was proud of herself. I'm surprised they're so cozy in public. Isn't he persona non grata among liberals?

Yeah Rudy had that one coming. I loved how he laughed when Al Smith ribbed him, and most certainly did not laugh when Hillary dished it out. [sm=anger.gif]

There's a gif going around of the fellow to the right's face going from laughter to wide-eyed. Hilarious.

Trump can't ad lib for shit. He could've changed that line to "I can't help but notice that Hillary's laughing a lot more than some of you right now." Instead he just digs deeper. I think at some point someone was yelling "Cardinal, Cardinal!" Ahh good times.

I recall 2 (or 3) years ago when Rudy went extreme verbal on Obama for no apparent reason.
His sudden outburst made most of the nightly political newscasts with no one being able to explain what prompted the outburst.
However, I remember one pundit who said Rudy had been making a living doing the speech/lecture circuit, but had been using the same speech for way too many years ("I was the mayor of New York on 9/11 and it was my leadership skills that led the city out of the rubble to a total recovery...."). The pundit said Rudy's speech hadn't changed in a decade so his bookings had fallen because no one seemed interested in paying for his canned speech again.
The pundit said the outburst was an obvious attempt by Rudy to jump-start the bookings for his speaking engagements so he could resume his income stream.

Frankly, Guiliani has become a useless, politically washed-up has-been, who will shill for whoever the current Republican candidate for any office happens to be.

MsCoeur -> RE: Al Smith Dinner (10/21/2016 1:26:14 PM)

I thought as usual Trump totally made an ass of himself. I also loved watching the reactions of the faces behind them. The thought of that narcissist as president has me thinking a move out of the country might be in order.

FR
As usual media reports on this is soooooo bias!!!!
Donald ended the speech gracefully saying nice things about Hillary. And they didn't mention that.

Lucylastic -> RE: Al Smith Dinner (10/21/2016 10:34:30 PM)

keep dreaming LOL

Yes. This election and his unquestioning support for Trump and all his excesses has done serious damage to Guiliani's reputation.

Not once has Guiliani failed to support or excuse Trump no matter how outrageous Trump's behaviour was. He made excuses for the racism, for the xenophobia, for the bus tapes, for the serial womanising, the sexual assaults, the appalling bragging about his predations, Trump's tax evasion and serial business failures. He has on occasion out Trumped Trump.

I read somewhere that this, the full on, hardball, take no prisoners, no trick is too low, ruthless Guiliani is the real Guiliani, the one that was around pre-9/11 and the one we have seen on the campaign trail. His behaviour during 9/11 and its immediate aftermath, which was widely and deservedly praised, seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
