Russia has withdrawn a request for three warships to dock at the Spanish port of Ceuta for refuelling, following concern among Nato allies.

The Spanish foreign ministry says the stopovers have now been cancelled.
Spain had been coming under pressure from Nato allies not to allow the refuelling of Russian warships bound for Syria.

A battle group has been sailing for the past week from Russia to the Mediterranean.

"Given the information which appeared on the possibility that these ships would participate in supporting military action in the Syrian city of Aleppo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested clarification from the embassy of the Russian Federation in Madrid," the foreign ministry said in a statement to the BBC.

It added that permission had been granted in September for three Russian ships to dock in Ceuta between 28 October and 2 November. It said such stops for Russian naval vessels had taken places for years in Spanish ports.

I actually voted yes...I had mixed feelings sphere of influence & who decides
for the record military might is USA more than everyone else - save nuclear weapons Russia has twice as many...and I am really going to say this I actually Agree with Trump (no pink letter small font wow) the focus should be on the removal/containment of ISIS

Who should police the world - the UK certainly doesn't have the capacity. Russia is a faded force desperate for sanction to be lifted they are out of money. only leaves America & its allies. The UN is a fuking useless - concept is good just does not work

team America, like snowdens, strike as films Americans do not wish to see is that correct or not?

Status: offline 		mnottertail I spent a year or so speaking to a Ukrainian-she favoured the motherland. Does Crimea want to be part of Russia? Does Scotland wish to be part of the UK? Swearyman (compliment trust me you had me rolling about the floor for a whole day - something you said 2-4 days ago to 44) but I am not sure why Crimea is relevant to the thread.

Russia has no real naval force and one carrier of 30-50 years of age and is always followed by a tug boat

Status: offline 		The thing is, about the Ukraine that might be true, since Russians more or less invaded it in the 70's and Russians are more prevalent than Ukrainians.

Sorta like people in the US voted to be part of it, and didnt consult the natives.

Status: offline 		her dad was "Russian" and had a lot of money although the origins of that were more than hazy. But, she had a brain and she chose the motherland but was unable to tell me exactly why....in essence she said it was strength..After sometime I understood the country has become fragmented and fell apart, beyond repair.... like the UK is currently doing so, and China will shortly.....What is strength?

I do not doubt for one moment there is bias in the media

I favour wiki and BBC and shag all else - but observe Russia http://www.pravdareport.com/
