https://www.yahoo.com/news/paris-climate-agreement-becomes-international-law-040222551.html?ref=gs

quote:

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The Paris Agreement to combat climate change became international law on Friday — a landmark deal about tackling global warming amid growing fears that the world is becoming hotter even faster than scientists expected.

Now if a company, person or country violates the law, imprisonment, fines can be imposed on a country wide level. The US has yet agreed to the approved law. Not sure what impact it will have, but since we didn't agree to it (thru ratification of international treaty protocols) I don't think SCOTUS would force us to go along with it (Pure Speculation on my part).

Next stop - POTUS for climate criminal. LOL

As you say: it will have fuck all impact.
You people ignored the Kyoto treaty after a former VP had signed it. Do you honestly think either Clinton or the circus peanut will be paying any attention at all to this next week?

Oh I think Hils will, BUT It only needs the senate confirmation, that will be the stumbling block if the senate stays repub. they wont be doing much of anything if trump doesnt win, it will be investigations, filibusters and blocking every bill...pretty much like the last 8 years

Of course they won't. Without ratification, no "International law" applies in the US. International law is not something imposed, it is agreed to by each nation. Those countries that have signed and ratified (in whatever manner they do such ratification) are technically bound by it and those that do not are not.
However, since there really is no method of enforcement, it is really more of an honour system.

Of course they did, it was never ratified and thus had no validity in the US. It is NOT US law.

Signing and ratifying are not the same thing, all signing means is that the administration has agreed to the terms and conditions, in order for it to come into effect the nation must ratify it (which is done differently in each country, in the US it done by a vote in the Senate).
