The great sea change seems to be about 'rejecting the establishment'. It's possible, but not easy, for a party to look as though it's doing that while at the same time offering policies that also look moderate.

So what is it you think Pence would do? Force everyone to become members of his church under penalty of death? Or is it that he takes a strong pro life position? If you want to talk about those who are unqualified to be the POTUS, Obama and Hillary are at the top of the list. Hillary couldn't have been elected dog catcher in her own home state let alone carpet bag her way to a Senate seat in New York had she not married Bill. How many great moderates in the history of America are there?

Periods for pence....he signed a law that requires miscarried fetuses, as well as aborted fetuses, to be "interred or cremated by a facility having possession of the remains," regardless of the age of the fetus. many times when I see him go off the rails, I report his posts. maybe eventually, the moderators will actually do something about him. I suspect if more people did so, it could help. to address one of the points to his more recent links (no I didn't go read it either because I more or less know whats in it)---the only thing more idiotic than people saying others with whom they disagree over something "don't believe in science" is other people actually believing such a thing exists, posting it and uncritically accepting that its the gospel---oh, er, sorry, that its the truth.

Pence has described himself as “a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order.” Why exactly is this 2000 or so year old worldview even relevant today? Pretending to be because culturally it's expected is one thing, but actually making decisions based on some fantasy that there is a supernatural all powerful being that cares what we do for some reason. Yeah, that's someone I want in charge...

Well an argument can be easily made that Jesus didn't teach his morality to the government... he taught it to the people. In fact Jesus explicitly separated church and state himself (give to Caesar what is Caesar's, give to God what is God's. It's really not the role of the government to help the poor and needy... it is the people's place. Theoretically i guess the solution would be to make government smaller, decrease taxes and let the people privately manage things pertaining to such issues.

Killing babies is your idea of love thy neighbor? Every person follows there own set of beliefs, agnostics pretend that because they say there is nothing greater than man their set is better. This is why they think that it is ok to burn and steal because they know everyone does it one way or another. It is ok to discriminate against Christians because they stand for a constant set of values.

Are you saying that a Christian holding office is a violation of separation of church and state. Keep in mind that the wall of separation of church and state does not appear in the Constitution, it says that the state cannot make anyone adopt any religion nor can it restrict their rights because they follow any religion. This means that dismissing someone because they are Christian is more a violation than following your beliefs.
