So I have been watching the news from various sources and listening to the folks on a political forum that I belong to and here is my take on the election: 1-Trump won. If you discount California, he won by about 2,000,000 votes. But counting California, he lost the popular vote by a half a million. 2-The Electoral College is sworn to cast their votes according to their individual state laws. Many call for them to revolt and vote for Clinton. Last I heard from some news service is that two Democrats and two Republican pledged votes will each jump sides. 3-Even if the Electoral College voted Clinton in, the US House of Representatives could overthrow that as an invalid vote and count based upon state law. 4-I support people’s right to protest. They can walk up and down the sidewalk all they want as long as they don’t impede others rights of free peace, travel, life, liberty, thought, pursuit of happiness. To me the best protest would be to change the Constitution. The violence seen is criminal and I personally hope they find each and every one that violates the law and prosecutes them according to the law. 5-Democrats are the Party of Tolerance, at least according to the leader of our country. Where did that tolerance go? I have no clue. Where is the tolerance of our election laws? Where is the tolerance of our countries traditions? 6-We are a Republic. Actually we are a Representative Republic. If we were a Democracy, we would have to spend our lives in the polling stations deciding on whether or not the government could purchase a single pencil or piece of paper. We have never been a Democracy. Even our Declaration of Independence was signed by our representatives and not every single person in agreement with it. 7-For the protesters that said they would move out of the country if Trump was elected. Please do. May I suggest Mexico. I don’t believe their immigration laws are as stringent as Canada’s. 8-For those that burn the American Flag, stop. To many have fought and died for it’s principles. That is who you are disrespecting. 9-For those that march under the Mexican Flag yelling “Trump is not my President,” go back to Mexico, you are right. You have enough issues in your country to worry about, we don’t need your help creating more. 10-Bottom line. Protest if you want and don’t violate anyone else’s rights.
