I am disappointed this question was not asked to Mike Pence and Tim Kaine BECAUSE, poor Sarah Palin was asked that!

And honestly, I still don't know what exactly does a VP do.

I mean, in Prime Minister countries, there isn't like a Vice Prime Minister!

In Pence's case, the VP's job will mostly involve crying himself to sleep at night.

I think, sooneth, he will start calling his evil overlord Caesar...obviously the contents of the white cutlery silverware drawer will have been sold day1 and he will need to improvise with some garlic and crucifix.....actually I did read today hes taking $1 salary as opposed to the $400 000. Wonders how long it will be before I see a for sale, possibly foreclosure, sign on the WH lawn.

The VP's duties are not elaborated in our constitution, Greta, beyond acting as a tie-breaker vote as President of the Senate. Primarily, he is the designated successor, followed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and then the Majority Leader of the Senate in the event the President dies or is incapacitated. Otherwise, the VP's role is determined by his relationship with the President. Obama employed Biden extensively for foreign affairs advice. On the other hand, when Roosevelt died in 1945 Harry Truman ascended to the office without knowledge that we had developed nuclear weapons. Many VPs have simply been neglected by the President. I thought Pence was in charge of conversion therapy?

The answer really depends on the relationship between the President and Vice President

Obama kept Biden around for life insurance, and funny memes... It sure as hell wasn't because of his brains.

Everyone knows that Cheney was the real power in the last administration, Bush was just the folksy face of the Office.

My guess is Trump will rely on Pence to be the conduit between the White House and Congress.
