ORIGINAL: UllrsIshtar The workers can't afford them, and the companies won't sponsor them because it's cheaper to hire illegals. All these things. The government needs to work out special permits for people to employ on special sectors that need these people, that American locals don't want to do. All these things can be fixed. I don't know, in my country, there are many different types of work permits. And different types of levies. Different sectors also have different permits, different quotas, different levies. And exceptions are also made on case by case basis. The companies can negotiate with the government for special treatment and exceptions due to their special situation of requiring these type of workers that can't be found in my country. I mean, if you are getting people to work in farms, they can't possibly make it so damn difficult and expensive for those farm pickers to be lawfully employed. Personally, it's all about fixing the whole structure. It can be done IF somebody in charge wants to make it happen. Hell we even got special work permits specifically for nannies. So we got Malaysian women who comes in just to be a nanny. A job no local Singaporean wanna do. And there is a legal way for them to do this. Of course our Nannies here are very traditional chinese type, where they do massages and take care of the baby and cook post pregnancy superstitious nonsense food for the mother and make her follow strict traditional nonsence, like no bathing for a month, and no getting out of bed for a month. Not the typical western nanny type. They are more voodoo type I'd say. But we even got special work permits for such a job.
