Advice for any U.S. citizens headed for Canada to live; you at least need to know what Curling is even if you have never watched a match. Having gone to watch a co worker at a match and gotten roped into a pick up game after the official matches (get the Yank on the ice as a joke was the intent I think) I found it actually a lot of fun. Mental speed bumps for yanks headed north: -Milk comes in plastic bags. -Everyone recycles. -You go to Canadian tire for sales on winter gear and kitchen equipment too. -Timmy's is like Dunkin' Donuts with taste and class. Trust me, if you like coffee and pastry, you will like Tim Horton's. -CanOSH standards and ANSI standards may not equate. Be prepared to get Canadian safety shoes and hard hat. The internet seems to have faster throughput in Canada unless you are going across the U.S. border. I joke about it being NSA screening. <grin> -Mail order from the U.S. is often more expensive than ordering the equivalent item from Britain or Hong Kong. -Canada is serious about getting import tariffs from mail order items whereas the U.S. often ignores tariff fees from individual mail orders. Don't be surprised if you have to go to the post office and pay "tariff due" fee before receiving a package. -Poultry is dry process chilled in Canada instead of the wet tank chillers in the U.S. This means that a chicken in the grocery doesn't look moist and doesn't required the diaper in the package for the excess water seeping out. I came back to the U.S. earlier this year. I went up on a six month project and ended up staying for a year and a half. I may even go back for another project in the spring.

I was born in Rochester, NY and I grew up on the Southern shore of Lake Ontario. If I take a raft across Lake Ontario, I might find my way to Toronto or whichever way the wind blows. Yea, I know some Canadian history. I think I might be able to pass the test, well, maybe
