Twitter is going after Right Wing Big Figures and banning their accounts.

When they first banned Milo, I thought they were very unreasonable. I didn't see Milo inciting any racism towards this Leslie chick. All he did was said Ghostbusters suck and she was a terrible actress in it.


But looks like, they are gonna wipe themselves right wing opinions free now.

I know this is a private company so they can do whatever they want.

But time for right wing organizations to built their own platforms too similar to twitter.

Status: offline 		The fact that social media IS the most popular platform that people get their news feed from these days.

The ones who control the platform, can control the thoughts of people.

It is a scary thought.

I feel like there gotta be international law regulating against such platform to show such strong bias to one ideology.

I think what is fair is, make international rules to be about issues, and yes, ban personal attacks, that is fair. Personal attacks has no place in any productive debates or exchange of difference in opinions.

The one thing I learn in Journalism class in my past is, the media has alot of power to shape people's mind and influence their thoughts. It's such a huge responsibility and it is great power. And it's going unregulated without check and balances. And platforms like facebook and twitter are what I call, citizen journalism which makes it even worst.

My country gets criticized alot for regulating media. But end of the day, the main regulation is to make sure, every single report is authentic and provable and to hold the media company and place penalty on them IF they published any false or inaccurate news. And the penalty is high, so it forces them to double check their sources and make sure whatever they publish is authentic. So because of that, we have one of the lowest freedom of Press in the world. That's all they want. No wild accusations, no fake news. I like the regulations.

Really? Well, it fits. Twitter has been full of Tweets begging for and urging the murder of Donald Trump, with no evident attempt to shut them down. Incitement to murder seems a little over the top, even for Twitter. But why stop there, I guess.

It's an example of attempts by the Left to control the dialogue. This is what they've done in academia and now they're trying to do it in the public sphere.

In its own way, it's every bit as insidious as voter suppression laws.

However, building right wing platforms is not the answer. Doing so ensures you end up with a right-wing version of Twitter - in other words, an echo chamber.

Societies are a little more complex than this Greta. Twitter is essentially a roomful of idiots expressing whatever idea comes into their head within a 160 character limit. It's discourse dumbed down to the level of soundbite and is not terribly useful for anything at all besides manipulating hordes of the easily-led.

Other avenues of speech exist. There are thousands of web sites out there and the right has significant control of think-tanks which can influence policy. The right controls much of the corporate world and their lobbyists influence Washington.

What's interesting is the battle for credibility - which the left is now trying to start by attempting to define illegitimate sources of news and views. One example is the Southern Poverty Law Centre which is a Leftist organisation which presents itself as an impartial authority, but is, in reality, a promoter of Leftist views. Its inclusion of Maajid Nawaz and Ayan Hirsi Ali - two prominent critics of Islam who know a damn sight more about it than any American lawyer - on its list of "Anti-Islamic extremists" is an example of its fundamentally Leftitst and anti-Jewish view of the world.

In other words, this cultural battle has been coming for a long time and web sites like Breitbart and enfant terrible provocateurs like Milo Yiannopolous are at the forefront.

That's what truly interesting about the alt-right. The make points by mocking the sacred cows of the Left and reveal Leftists as the intolerant, bigoted ideologues that they are.

The Left has been given a bloody nose. The wholesale rejection of identity politics by the American electorate is a warning to back off. Typically, they're unable to accept this and are instead trying to continue with those same tactics and ideas which have lost currency in America, in Europe and in most industrialised nations. They will continue to lose until they come to grips with reality and realise that demonising the majority of the population to curry favour with minorities is a very effective way of marginalising yourself.

Status: offline 		I feel like Trump could not have won his Election without Twitter. So I wouldn't underestimate the influence Twitter has. That's why they are wielding their power now to shut down Right Wing Voices.

The media also always feel the need to highlight Trump's Twitter message, because they know many gets to see it, and they want to make sure, they spin enough about it to make sure people read the context of those twitter messages, that left wing media wants people to think.

I would not under-estimate how this move could effectively block in the future, the propagation of right ideas.

Twitter has also not been very balance on which death threats and bullying messages they regulate. Another problem is, they seem to only be focusing on what left people are receiving from the idiots from the right. But they are not going after the idiots from their camp too.

But end of the day, they are a private company, so they can do whatever they want and be as bias as they want.

Still, I think the gist of this topic is. This is the new age, and this is how Millenials get information and news. It's usually from Facebook and Twitter. May not be from traditional medias anymore.

There is a serious threat of possible abuse of this power to manipulated only promoting one form of ideology and no longer having the diversity of thoughts and ideas and beliefs.

And there is alot of peer pressure to be on platforms like twitter and facebook in this generation.

Seems I have inadvertently stumbled in on some diabolical Nazi thread But these are fortuitous times and it so happens I brought by smoting knobkerrie, vat of tar, and feathers.

What did the creature say anyway
“If [Hillary Clinton] gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”

I just read his ghostbusters review I see nothing particularly wrong with it. Although I am puzzled as to why he insults the writing (fair enough) but then starts getting personal with the characters – who are a product of the writing.

But I cannot base my opinion and his ban on this one article...which is really a rant against women...whom he perceives as feminist overlords threatening his weasel like existent
Purpose of twitter always escaped me.
It is not really for me to judge what I perceive as hate crimes and stirring up mob mentality

Interesting. Right wing organisations already do have their giant media outlets, as we all know. Why can't they buy up their own social media platforms too?

part of the answer greta is to just let the market decide. I think awareness touched on some of this but i'll tack on in a slightly different direction. conservative response to liberal media bias was talk radio, fox news, and internet news & commentary. much to the comrades dismay, its been wildly successful.

what might be lost from twitter, will likely be picked up elsewhere and in the meantime, if what youre saying is true, twitter is likely to lose even more of its users. im certainly not a predictor of a company's viability but its possible they find themselves going the way of left wing talk radio. last I heard their stock values were tanking and I cannot help but think this might be an ill-informed tactic trying to salvage its worth by appealing to the present anti-trump sentiment going around.

They are slow in catching up in that Arena, but they will get there.
For me, I see platform as Twitters as a neutral ground where right and left wing could mingle and read each other opinions and news, as it spreads and go viral.

Without facebook or Twitter, this means, right wing people only go read right wing things and left wing people only read left wing things. Which is not what I think is good for knowledge over all. I think people need diversity and variety and THEN form their opinions from there.

But most people don't choose to read from all avenues. I know many staunch huff post followers locally who would refuse to read anything from Fox for balance. I mean, if you read extreme left stuffs all day, it would be good to balance it out with some extreme right stuffs as well right?

But they would see an Fox News Article, if it was circulating in Facebook or Twitter. Which is good.

So yea, if in the future, such neutral platform starts taking obvious sides. The right really needs to figure this out.

Because even Google is sometimes accused of making their Googling algorithm to hide Right news and bring Left news forward.

All these modern social medias have alot of power to influence and shape things to their own agenda and direction, because we are all now so reliant on them.

They could always start their own ones - names hmm - how about Blitzkrieg or the luftwaffler wonders if share in gas companies spike the trick is knowing when to stop and when to put the boot in.

Bakery is different. There are so many Bakeries to go to. No worries, if one refuse service, boycott them. Easy peazy. Spread the news that the Bakery is Anti-Gay people. Go support Gay Friendly Bakeries.

But there is only ONE Twitter and it has a monopoly right now.

IF WalMart start banning gay people, that would be the equivalent. Assuming Walmart has monopoly on cheap hypermarket type of business.
