US Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has submitted his letter of resignation, he has told a congressional panel.

He told the House Intelligence Committee that "it felt pretty good".
The 75-year-old top American spy had been expected to step aside, as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to appoint his own officials.

Analysts believe that he is sending a signal to the Trump administration that they must now speed up the transition.

I would have appreciated the option to vote for "This is just another fucking asinine poll."

Considering the OP, isn't that implied?

After years of being required or at least encouraged to lie to Congress by sitting CinC; I'd be relieved to get away from being required to skirt a fine edge of what is legal in my job and covering up where it crossed over.

BTW, NO Donald Trump can't speed the transition. Trump has no legal authority TO transition things until inaugurated. That sounds more like butt hurt media complaints about not being included in deliberations on who to appoint to cabinet positions.

I personally believe that since there is an area for polls that this should be moved over there. As for Clapper, his choice to serve or not (unless terminated and at his level could possibly mean he looked funny that day).
