Trump's lobbyist transition team to designate non-lobby cabinet.

Trump Campaigned Against Lobbyists, but Now They're on His Transition Team

A big huff-and-puff in his campaign about Trump not having any lobbyists in the new government, and requiring a signed agreement preventing appointees from working for a lobbying firm for five yeas after departure.

It was nice of him, though, to give the lobbying honchos a heads-up alert, and last opportunity, "get it while the gettin's good, guys," and stuff his transition team with well experienced high-level lobbyists for purpose of designating candidates for all these 'non-lobbyist'-held positions.

Change!

But now that all the sage advice from this crew has been obtained, and their recommendations now well in hand- it's showtime!

Lobbyists leave Trump transition team after new ethics rule

A masterful job in huffery and puffery, sound and fury, signifying (nothing) ------ Change!

Gotta love this quote, from veteran food and agro-chem lobbyist Michael Torrey: "When asked recently to terminate lobbying registration for clients whom I serve in order to continue my role with the transition, I respectfully resigned from my role."

They already got served, your clients' guy will be in place, you're done here, great job, thank you.

In other words, you can't be a lobbyist and be on the transition team. It's one or the other. And you're lampooning that as...

Did you not read both articles? Or read them through?

Yes, My second link related the news of the lobbyists being gone from the transition team, but, -for those paying attention-, the first article explained what their role was prior to that point.

Look, you are welcome to put forth your observation anytime you want (and not by my 'allowance' of such in any case), but it is appreciated if you at least exercise some modicum of due diligence beforehand, which was not evident in your initial comment.

Well then in the spirit of due diligence, since apparently you didn't get it the first time around, I think some people are willing to spin just about anything Trump does into something they can find fault with. And while sometimes there may be something to it, this one strikes me as a reach. That's all.

Well to me, it was blatantly obvious that the initial transition team were involved in the first place for a purpose, and their release ~ 10 days later was indication of mission accomplished. BTW, why is it a 'stretch' to question why Trump had so many lobbyists on the transition team at the start? What, even after all the campaign rhetoric against lobbyists, he suddenly realized "Oh my, all these guys are lobbyists on my team? I never knew!".

What is obvious to me is a 'stretch' for you.

He knew they were lobbyists. He said so in an interview on TV. But they were people who knew the ins and outs of Washington, possibly better than anyone else, and I suspect Trump learned enough of what he wanted to know before the team set the ethics rules that some decided didn't suit them.

Others of course would blame Clinton.

They weren't willing to give up their "clients" to have that job ? Well that tells what kind of people they are. Into money and not much else. And do you think their "clients" would not have some influence on them at that job ? Were you born in a pumpkin patch ?
