heavyblinker -> Trump backtracks on climate change (11/23/2016 2:31:15 AM)

Trump admits 'some connectivity' between humans and climate change.

http://edition.cnn.com/2016/11/22/politics/donald-trump-climate-change-new-york-times/index.html\

Backtracks on his vow to withdraw from the Paris treaty:

edition.cnn.com/2016/11/22/politics/takeaways-donald-trump-new-york-times-meeting/index.html

This from someone who previously insisted it was a Chinese hoax (possibly the stupidest thing I have heard with regards to climate change).

I really have to wonder what exactly Obama told him during their meeting... because now not only does he say it is occurring, not only does he say that human activity plays a role... but he tells the press he is open to the Paris Climate treaty, which he had previously wanted to withdraw from.

If he is looking for a way to pacify the left and get the press on his side, PLEASE GOD LET THIS BE IT.

I can't even begin to describe how happy I would be if all of this denialist bullshit would finally go away.

Jesus, what am I saying?

This guy changes his mind 6 times an hour.

Lucylastic -> RE: Trump backtracks on climate change (11/23/2016 3:03:16 AM)

I think we are seeing what we see every election.
He started getting security and other details he could only get from being President elect, and half of his campaign "promises" are deemed impossible by the people behind the power.
BUT.....
WE have seen quite a few "hints" at a few possible " secretary of states" rumours, his whole "transition team" changes according to his mood.
Ghouliani has been touted more than once in a different position.
Christie has been in and out of favour like hes doing the hokey cokey.
Carson was rumoured to get a health job, now hes rumoured to be up for head of HUD.
WHO knows what is going on, until its finally been decided.
Im expecting more of his "promises" to disappear.
Not that I think it will make a difference to his base. They believe its all sunny and climate change is just another communist conspiracy(oh we are ok with commies now?), kissing the ex head of the KGBs taint.
Even Trump couldnt change their minds.

The orange cockwomble turns so fast I'm surprised he hasn't tried to join the Byrds...

Every president comes to the center once elected. The only difference is where they start and how far they come...W, the least from the farthest.

Greta75 -> RE: Trump backtracks on climate change (11/23/2016 7:06:50 AM)

I think this is good news instead of criticism.

To me, Trump will end up making the pragmatic decision, alot of his positions prior to being President is not having all the facts and information at hand. Now as President, he will be listening to a variety of opinions and evidence and facts and then form the most pragmatic decision from there. And this means IF any of his position is not pragmatic, it would be changed.

My brother who is very pro-environment and that's what he hopes to do in his life, something that fights for improving environment, is kinda pissed off that Trump won due to his denial of Climate Change issues. So this is good news.

The facts and information about climate change are widely available. Any reputable science-related website can give you everything you need to know and more. You can't become a climatologist with the info, but you can get the gist.

Either he was simply telling his developmentally delayed legions what they wanted to hear during his campaign, or he only bothered to actually learn about it recently... neither option is particularly comforting, but since we're stuck with the semi-literate buffoon anyways, I'm not going to get all indignant if he decides that sucking up to the fossil fuel giants and their denialist bullshit is beneath even him. Those people are much worse than Trump simply because they are undoubtedly among the top 50 worst human beings alive today.

But it's kind of a mystery how he could ever go all in with emissions targets without ditching his plan to develop pretty much every single CO2-heavy fossil fuel in sight with zero restrictions. He has absolutely no idea what he is doing so there is no way for anyone including him to know what he will do. He's probably just saying whatever he can to get people to stop protesting him and saying he's a terrible person and a horrible president and listing endless factual reasons why this is true.

Still, a Republican president is probably in a much better position to put an end to denialism than a Democrat.

The only need 42 (hmm seem a lot that) to rebel against the orange monster by the 19th of December, or an alien abduction - not sure which is the more likely, but fingers crossed eh!

You should search our climate thread that I once started.

It makes me realise, the counter argument is quite credible too. Infact I don't know who to believe currently. Counter Argument uses science and historical patterns too.

Personally, I have no issues with switch to clean energy. Less polluted earth is always welcome, fresher air.

But I think one got to ask why is there such a huge skepticism on climate change, and really look and debunk ALL the counter arguments, which is not debunk yet.

WickedsDesire -> RE: Trump backtracks on climate change (11/23/2016 8:12:49 AM)

So he’s technically not even been elected by the electoral college of malarkey.

So I could stand in America and say free money for all, minus 10% tax rate, free shoes for women and then do the complete opposite when I am installed as emperor of America. And whence I am installed as supreme overlord I will melt down your fort knox gold it will make for a fine castle with turrets and everything, enslave all women as it is so written couple words ago and hurl anyone I dislike, or whence taken by my erratic whims, into a fiery volcano

The term lying cunt springs to mind. How has he got away with this? I wonder how the 23% of the lobotomised public who voted for him feel about this?

YES, this.

He's a businessman, he's got decades of experience knowing how to LIE to get people to BUY. Personally, I'm going to halfway ENJOY this show, as his voters who BELIEVED HIM slowly realize they got DUPED.

On a personal note, WHATEVERRR, the election is over...moving on...

No, actually, there are no credible counter-arguments and they have all been debunked. I really don't need to research your climate thread, I guarantee that I have read it all before and I'm frustrated just thinking about it.

Trump is more unhampered by depth and principle than any US president before him. It will be no surprise at all to me if he fully backtracks on climate change. This is the emptiest president I've ever seen - and that against some very stiff competition.

Marc Morano used to be Rush Limbaugh's henchman before he became a fake climate 'expert' (no science background whatsoever) and started selling denialist narratives on FOX.

Forgive me if I trust CNN a little more.

I'm also not sure how the full transcript in any way proves that Trump isn't backtracking. He isn't exactly smart about it, but you'll notice that he doesn't mention Chinese hoaxes, backing out of the Paris treaty and though he slips in some Inhofe-level stupidity he is far more indecisive than he used to be.

Heh, I just looked him up on rational wiki(not that I think they are unbiased, but it made me laugh all the same
Whatever the truth is, his website is really poor

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Marc_Morano

Marc Morano (born 1968) is a wingnut propagandist and global warming denier (his fans call him a "climate realist"). He kicked off his career by learning the tricks of the trade as a producer on Rush Limbaugh's show in the early '90s. He then went on to work for L. Brent Bozell's Media Research Center.
In 2004, he was one of the first "reporters" to hype the John Kerry swiftboating "story." In 2006, preeminent denier and wingnut Jim Inhofe hired Morano to be his "Director of Communications." Morano's position got him into a number of climate conferences and policy hearings. He also put out a bogus report about 700+ number of scientists who "disagreed" with the consensus (a la Oregon Petition). Some scientists called for his resignation due to the number of distortions and lies about their work he promulgated. In 2009, Morano left Inhofe and became the proprietor of the website "Climate Depot." Climate Depot is sponsored by the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow, an Exxon funded think tank.[1] Supposedly, he exposes the "lies" of the "warmists" and "scientific McCarthy-ites" (oh the irony!) who do research in that inconvenient thing called science. The site is really more of a denialist-style Drudge Report that links to whatever nonsense it can find.
In 2010, Morano was given the "Petr Beckmann award" by Doctors for Disaster Preparedness. Apparently, he thinks this is something to be proud of.[2]

Someone should put him up for a cabinet position, get the trumpledforeskin on this right away!!!!!!

Maybe an "empty Prez" off could be staged?
Forcefeed the cockwomble and Bush's spakker kid shit to see which bursts first. My money's on the shitgibbon swallowing more before dying as he has a weight advantage over George the Second.
